I just had an idea......since you can store video, that should mean storing audio is possible. Could be useful to add an option to record the sweep audio for future reference AND to share with others. 🙂

Gary, I ordered an MI-6 for the Deus 2 but have several other pinpointers. I come from a time when I made and used a brass probe for finding coins. Then there was the coil poppers and yes I still use them as well… John

Hey Merrill, I use the main control box, but run the antenna through the stem and have it just barely poke out of the mounting “bracket.” Just like you showed, there is no need for it to wrap around the top, unless you fully submerge it. I haven’t tested it, but I imagine that as long as the antenna is above water, it can be any distance from the controller, just like the coil itself. I haven’t updated from the version .75?, so I don’t know that this works with newer versions. For bottle caps, I just keep Deep High Conductor next to my beach program. For me, bottle caps come in two ranges (mid 70s and I believe mid 60s). I haven’t detected at the beach yet this year, so my memories a little rusty. If I suspect one (or any other iron), I flip to DHC. If the VDI changes by about 10, it’s a bottle cap/iron. Of course this doesn’t help with aluminum bottle caps.

Very informational! Merrill has been very helpful with my past detector purchases, and I expect an XP will be on my radar for my next purchase as the top 3 channels I religiously follow (Paystreak Superfreak, Treasure Outdoors & of course NYC Metal Detecting) run XP Deus II detectors. I a trying to learn as much as I can on all of the XP offerings I can right now so when the times comes for that next purchase, I am armed with a good foundation of knowledge on both basic and advanced settings and operating.

I’m inspired good stuff. There’s a Saxon burial ground near me in Kent I can’t wait to get my first detector this week.

After watching this I pulled the trigger on a WS6 Master. I also purchased the backpack mi6 pointer and ws2 headphones. I also own a legend and a equinox 700. The Deus is a step ahead of the competition. I am pulling deeper targets with much better id at depth. Yesterday I got a copper penny at 9 in solid repeatable signal vdi steady 90 to 91. I love this detector.

As both a subscriber and member of Merrill's Metal Detecting channel, I am super happy for him of becoming an ambassador for XP Mental Detectors, especially since the Deus II is among the many Makes and Models he showcases and reviews on his channel. A model Detector I will certainly be considering asa future upgrade purchase. But that brings me to this question that either Merrill ,XP, or both may answer: Going forward, does being an Ambassador to XP preclude the ability of Merrill from showcasing the many other Makes and models that were/are key elements of building his channel and beneficial to his many viewers like myself? Why doesn't the company take action for a bigger loop? If the XP company doesn't think about a bigger loop like 15, no one will look for XP devices to buy anymore? The 11:13 loop really works very badly in terms of depth. The company should provide a bigger loop to hit more depth. device

Beware. Tried updating my dad's Deus to v6 today, the coil stopped working after flashing. The light that normally blinks on it no longer does, and the remote says "NO COIL"
