Consider running a better tire like the Yoko A052 and get the SSB designs front uprights Kit. The understeer dramatically improves. The Evo is a corner exit car and not an entry. Keep that in mind.
@Justa2L2 күн бұрын
I’m starting to remember that part of the Evo dynamics. I tend to do longer sessions and I’m not really able to throw down my fastest lap in the first or second lap so that’s why I’ve stayed away from tires like the A052, also why I’m not good at time attack/time trials. SSB all around has always been in my mind but hard to justify more big investments in to this car for the little track time is doing. I think I’d rather used those funds towards a set of Penske’s or MCS’s for the c7. We’ll see, I guess if I end up keeping the car long term

@@Justa2L While they aren't cheap; I'll tell you, it's the best mod to reduce understeer. It transform my car so much that the cost was worth it. Tires on an Evo will always be tricky because we carry all the weight in the front. Because of this, you'll always overheat the fronts. It's just part of the platform.
@Justa2LКүн бұрын
@@awdboosted do you think you must do front and rear together? Or could I do fronts and get most of the benefits? Thanks
@awdboostedКүн бұрын
@@Justa2L when I bought them, I started with the front and raced the full year before I got the rears. So here's my experience. The front will give you the biggest benefits. The car just becomes more front responsive, better turn-in, grip, and less understeer. The rears are a great complement to the fronts by making the car sharper on turn-in. If you can only afford one, the fronts are key. The rears are a great compliment, if you have some extra money laying around. The combo makes the best pairing.

Also as you stated in the video 265-275s would be better with more camber as a 255 is pretty narrow for the rim width and speeds you're hitting at your tracks. When you missed 4th on the straight that seemed more a shifter issue than the trans itself perhaps? Are you running full poly or aluminum shifter bushings? Great video@@Justa2L

Have you ever considered swapping out the Evo for a dedicated track car (e.g., a Radical)? I personally can't stand reliability issues... which are inevitable when you take a car like the Evo and extensively customize it for lapping. Really any car that has extensive modification is not going to be OEM-reliable. That's why your z06 is such a workhorse. You've modded a few things, but really that car is OEM+. GM engineered that thing to be flogged at the track.
@Justa2L4 күн бұрын
@@cabinInTheWoods2023 Honestly no. Never really had an interest in a real race car, that just gets in to a whole another dimension of costs and time. I think just doing hpde scratches that itch of tracking while having a relatively low budget, specially since I do most of my own maintenance. Also I really only do 10-14 track days per year, maybe if I was out 20+ then it may start making more sense to spend on a racecar. I am considering moving on to something capable, reliable and different than the C7 (from the Evo)….but that’s a topic for later.

hey this is good info, I haven't heard about this complaint much yet but haven't really been looking at it. I don't like the ball jointed ones as they don't look substantial at the joint to me. I can see that track duty could cause this but also wasn't sure if you replaced each side with just one wheel up, maybe that puts more pressure on them. Delrin feet would be better for sure. I will look at this as I just bought my car but it was a pedestal car it seems and only has 30k miles on it. I am resisting coil overs only due to I want MCS and not sure I want to pay out that for now, they are great and worth the money but I have an e36 with a dead motor and no time to work on it with them so this was the fall back. it's been great so far too!

KUDO's. Your Z06 was obviously running well & it is a really fine example of "The Machine". However I was most impressed with the skill of the driver on that 2:17 run. Well done. See that track time is worth it. Wish I could get my downshifts that smoothly executed. Really enjoyed the video. One question tho. What time do you think a seasoned pro would make on that same circuit? I guess top end speed on those straights would be the main diff?

I’d like to know myself too! Really not a whole lot of pros driving street cars in HPDE’s so it may remain a mystery. Brian Rosati ( @Urban_Knight) has gone 2:11’s with better aero, DSC dampers and Hoosier A7s. My guess is that my car would be capable of a 2:10-11 or maybe even a high 2:09 with the current setup but new tires and driven by a pro.

Congratulations on your best time! Dewitts makes a good radiator and fan for the c7. That might help with water temps before doing a hood. Try removing the weather striping near the cowl during track sessions (if you haven't already) and see if that helps with venting.
@TheRdub82Ай бұрын
Which coolers are those specifically?I thought there was a fluid temp gauge in the dash that shows differential fluid temp? Hopefully, this helps. Did you have transmission fluid venting, too, or was it precaution?
@Justa2LАй бұрын
I put the parts with links in the description to make it easy to find the correct part for the cooler. Click the “more” under the video tittle. The dash has engine coolant, oil and transmission temperatures. And yes the trans also pukes out fluid but my understanding is that’s normal and everyone with the manual gets that fluid coming out. However It’s not much.
@minchelloАй бұрын
Did the 2019 radiator help temps significantly?
@Justa2LАй бұрын
@@minchello I Guess it depends on the year of the car. GM made changes in mid 2017 and in to 2018. Then the 2019’s got another radiation size increase but only for the Automatics, that radiator is just about 2” thick and compatible with all years and transmissions. So if you have a 2015/16 and install a 2019 Automatic radiator, then it’s going to be a massive improvement. Now my car is a 2019, manual obviously, and I installed the 2019 automatic radiator. It did help but it wasn’t a massive improvement. Still totally worth for how cheap it is.

@Justa2L also how do you bleed your intercooling system to have minimal air pockets?
@Justa2LАй бұрын
@@minchello that’s a tough one. I tried several DIY methods with no success. Ultimately I gave up and purchased a CoolerBleeder tool. Expensive but it does eliminate all but two small 1” air pockets (and you’re supposed to have a little pocket for expansion). The tool does all the work for you. @@Justa2L did you just need the radiator? Are the hoses for the older radiators compatible with the bigger one?
@Justa2L19 күн бұрын
@ on mine all I needed was the radiator itself. I believe the hose connection points are all the same from 2015-2019 and both transmissions. I believe the only difference in the hoses is if your car has or doesn’t have the added AUX radiator that was added after 2017, that requires some additional connections but they are on the hoses and not on the core

I replaced all the fuel lines with new premade Radium lines, the PTFE inner with braided and coated outer, so I don’t see how that could be breaking down seeing that type of line is good to be used even on Methanol and Nitro. Also once the filter was cleaned everything went back to normal, the AFR came back to exactly how I had it before so you’d think if a line or something else was going bad the problem would persist. And yes for sure I’m cleaning the injectors
