I just finished out a track day with my 520hp c7 grandsport and the new c8z is pretty impressive how quickly they can power out. It also looks really stable under braking, though like your telemetry I was able to keep up in the braking zones. To me it felt like I had to work harder as compared to the other driver.

Highway cruising is should stay around 200 or under, maybe 205 with 100* outside air temps. I’d make sure the thermostat is not sticking, I bet you it is. Easy to change (get a new OEM one) other then having to bleed the cooling system. Also, depending on your area you can run less coolant and more water. From the factory it comes with a 60/40 mix of water (60%) to coolant (40%)

My Manual transmission 2019 never runs that hot on the track in Texas.
@Justa2L
@Justa2L 18 күн бұрын
Yeah that was my experience until I started really driving the car hard. I thought I was but now I know I wasn’t. Funny thing is that I said that exactly many times and some of the local fast guys (like urbanknight) told me I was just not driving the car hard and that it would run hot once I did, and it turned out to be true. Now I will say that I mentioned in my last video that I suspect the thermostat maybe bad because it it getting very hot very fast. But we’ll have to wait until the next Corvette track video to find out if that’s the case.

Could you give some advice to a potential future buyer of a c7 z06 in the automatic, if you dont track the car will it over heat on the street with some highway pulls and regualr spirited driving,also could you speak on the transmission in automatic, in regular driving mode,meaning not the paddles,is the transmission nice and responsive or is it sluggish?Would you stay away from the 2015 and 2016 models?Are there any actual fixes for the over heating problems and what do you think of the issues with cylinder deactivating?Any info is appreciated ty in advance.
@Justa2L
@Justa2L 18 күн бұрын
I can’t touch on how the auto drives but everything I’ve heard is that is not a great transmission. On the street I don’t think it’ll overheat unless there’s something wrong. Yes I would stay away from the 15/16’s. Some 17s and all of the 18/19s got major upgrades on the cooling system and also the bigger SC lid and cooling bricks.

I have a 16 Z06/Z07 and I would say the very first thing to do is get the transmission flushed and filled with proper fluid. I bought mine with 29K miles on it and had Chevy do a full flush and fill with Blue label Mobil 1 and BG products. Shifting and responsiveness are night and day. Make sure you get as much air out of the intercooler as possible and overheating wont really be an issue IMO. Maybe at a hard track day in high ambient temps but normal or spirited driving shouldnt be an issue at all. You can also buy the later model supercharger and sell your 16 version. A lot of people are putting the 15-16s on trucks. You could also upgrade to a Magnuson and you will get bigger bricks and taller lid. I would look at like this, if you plan on upgrading SC then it really doesnt matter 16-19. If you are keeping it stock and wanting to track it a lot then maybe 17-19 would be better option.

Do you think if you swapped to a 2650 it would run lot cooler
@Justa2L
@Justa2L 18 күн бұрын
Maybe if you set it up to run as much power as the factory or at least less boost but I don’t think it would be a lot cooler anyway. Just because more power = more heat really no matter what. The real problem is the small opening for the air to come in and then having to go through the SC HX, then the AC condenser and finally the radiator. Then add to that the oil cooling that’s tied up to the main radiator….its just not a good design.
