I can't believe some of those things on that car are options. My five year old Passat GTE Advance has park assist, massage heated and cooled seat, Pan roof, matrix LEDs and sundry other mod cons as standard! A car like this which is supposed to be the flagship of the whole VW range should have them as standard!

With a 64kWh ev you could have left home with 80% charge and charged overnight at or near your destination at a much cheaper rate than charging at motorway services. We've heard all the BS about ev's being too expensive to run many times but 99% of drivers don't have the inconvenience that you claim and don't have the costs that you say either. I have an ev with a lower maximum range than the 64kW Soul and somehow I managed to do a 1,300 mile road trip to Orkney and back in June. I was never delayed or inconvenienced and the prices for charging still worked out at significantly less than running an equivalent ICE or hybrid. This is my first EV and I have owned it for about 18 months now. I just do not understand all the negativity and hate, fear and doubt. If you insist on an ICE that's fine by me. Having tried an EV I see no reason to go back. Who still uses a landline instead of a mobile or a dolly tub instead of a washing machine?

Most reviewers comment on the lack of the Turbo engine, but I wonder how many Kia used to sell. If it was that good a seller, I'm sure they would have kept it. Most buyers of this car probably aren't that bothered about the 0-60 time. I'm after one of these and these things don't bother me at all. Dan, you come across very whingey!

@@BadMacs the auto is quite similar to the ones used in older french cars like the Peugeot 108/citroen c1. Most people considering this type of car are interested in only two things - reliability and reasonable running costs. Anything else is a bonus. Comments on the lack of a turbo option are pure testers' opinions, not long term owners views - unless you enjoy paying four figure repair bills! My own formula for buying is: four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with a manual gearchange and manual handbrake. This Picanto is my perfect car.
@ItsDanLatham
@ItsDanLatham 16 күн бұрын
@@ianthomas5955 I understand for many buyers such as yourself this won’t matter. It just seems a really odd decision in the grand scheme of things and a backward step, especially considering you can still get the turbo on the i10. Also regarding repairs, the warranty on these are fantastic so I’d hope any major issues would arise and be resolved within that period, but of course there are buyers who will keep it well beyond that time frame. Trouble is as I mentioned in the video, in built up areas or motorways there are now a lot of exceptionally fast and responsive EV’s, which make this almost dangerously slow. But for a city car that’s just going to potter about town to go to the shops that shouldn’t matter at all. Apologies if that didn’t come across towards the end of the review. Overall I think it’s a charming little thing

Nice professional review, very man like lol 🤣 I coming from Nissan Leaf and thinking go for used KIA Soul First edition. Tho currently Im driving another car, 2024 Atto 3 SUV which is up to last tech with huge tesla size screen and so on. But believe or not, Im so tired everything on screen and no buttons that I give up. Also ACC so paranoid on Atto that no use in city. No speed limiter also, practically no regen. About design... I found Niro design so dull and boring... this Soul- its fancy. White color makes Land Rover like, well. Will be like Atto 3, love and hate it. Even if I can live with Niro design, max out trim for used is about 18-20k, while max out Soul first edition 15k. Plus 10-speaker Harman Kardon system, ambient disco lights, highest sitting position in this segment and range compare with LEAf-oh man 😆. Only thing I dislike is infotainment screen design, its like from 1990 and "one paddle" instead of "one pedal".

The infotainment can be optioned up-to 15", but even the 12.9" is gigantic for my taste. What's more is, it has a half inch of useless black bezel. So the extra size is just useless space. If you're going to advertise a large display, fill the screen. Pity the German carmakers don't offer rear view mirror cameras. A necessary option for all SUV. Fill them up with passenger and their gear, and the rear view mirror becomes useless. On the pros side, the infotainment display appears to be bright, configurable and clearly laid out. Suggestion: Make that center button programmable -- with the functions duplicated on the infotainment display. That way owners can at least toggle through or directly select a function (safer as they drive), then adjust it using the dial.

I've got an 04 R that I bought in 2012 with 59k miles on it then. It's got 285,000 miles on it now, and keeps running on and on. That's the 2.5l 300hp version - and never had a problem with it... the smaller pots are a little "safer" but it's not the same - the extra 50 hp is great. Also, I get an extra button on the 4c - although I did away with it for coilovers - $500 per corner is a little excessive and they go in and out of stock. BTW the wind noise you are hearing is probably from damaged seals OR you need to do a window tune on the front windows - the soft stop is probably not completely tight - you can raise the window all the way, then hit the Up button again a bit and it'll close up the rest of the way. Longest single run - 485 miles without stopping - Wichita Kansas to St Louis Missouri - stopped then for lunch, bathroom, and fuel. And then drove another 7 hours after that. Absolutely comfortable.
