Hi Peachy I have been collecting and painting minis for a short while now and your videos have been great. I came into the hobby as a lorehead and have really enjoyed both the history and painting sides of your videos. Atm a mate and I are just painting the minis who interest us (not even that dedicated to an army although we have favourites) and are cheap. I only own one terrain piece so I will be using this to make my scenery for games. Maybe a video on what to expect playing your first tabletop game?

Great video. I used to do something similar 30 plus years ago as a kid, but no where near as good. Thanks Peachy for another entertaining video.

Like the old White Dwarf ... 2nd Ed home done scenery. Coke cans for 40k and Necromunda were a crowd fave. Great job .. bring back the Halcyon days mate 😆👍👍

A tip i would do is to try to sand off the paint at the points of contact, can still use a a glue gun but using a stronger glue would make this terrain last a long time. :)

For silver bayonet you need to build a full blown aztec or Egyptian pyramid and Sumerian ruins.

This would be great to create brutalist architecture type scenery for a blade runner style terrain for cyber punk or necromunda style terrain.

Such a great idea Peachy, looks so good at the end and reminded me of playing 40K on the floor using a play car mat as a board when I was younger. Have you thought about using the plastic trays you get from biscuit selection boxes? Some of those could make some interesting designs.

This needs Jazza, squidmar minatures and that scenery channel to have a go. You should get Suggz on this now juggz vs jazza or something who can make the best wooden block scenery board. This could grow immeasurably I can tell you now I’ll be watching what can be created from wooden block videos non stop.

Instant like, instant subscribe. When I started playing wargames, I used 10mm wooden cubes as my miniatures, and used 1inch square blocks and old Jenga sets for terrain. Since I've moved to 15mm proper miniatures, I still use those basic wood shapes for some terrain, or I grab some cardstock and make my own. I have been eyeing up the old cubes and jenga blocks and wondering about hot gluing them together in different shapes, and I think you've just given me the push to get it done :D

There are often really interesting shapes in polystyrene packing in most boxed items. You can’t use most rattle can spray paints because they contain solvents so people use emulsion house paint e.g. colour tester pots or a mix of PVA glue and cheap acrylic paint and sometimes sand mixed in for texture. Super cheap and easy to modify or weather with any sharp knife. If you want to get fancy, you can buy a hot wire tool and make practically anything with a hot glue gun. I remember making entire castles from sheets of polystyrene and if it gets broken or a mistake is made then it’s an historic ruin. Cheers!

The art I’m not so sure about, but the minis are daughters of Khaine from Morgwaeths blade coven, they’re a Warhammer Underworlds warband, I think they’re still available as kits from the website.

I'll say that I was really impressed with the look of smaller sections of stacked blocks, especially at 24:31. With larger structures in view, the terrain still looks great for the cost, but the zoomed in view on square blocks with grass growing from the gaps really stood out to me as punching above their weight class. I have a lot of expensive terrain to paint first, but I think if I were to try this, I'd use it for more scatter terrain-type elements. Lose blocks and small walls. Really dig those!

First time watching one of your vids and I gotta admit I liked it, I will be looking for more (although if its GW I wont watch, GW is to gaming what disney is to star wars). I am sorry but i have to ask, where are the Sharpe minis from? I loved them so much I cheated on my wife.

One idea I had was to use some of the old Playmobil sets from when I was a kid. The Baron's Tower set is one that I definitely remember having as a kid and is likely still in my parent's attic... keep meaning to ask if they can track it down and give it to me before my mother inevitably decides to gift it to my nephew. He doesn't need it like I do. 😛 Give it a paint job and that's a pretty epic tower keep for warhammer armies to battle over. Obviously don't recommend just buying the playmobil sets new for the purpose, they aren't cheep.

Something I've done in the past is use textured sprays (they're meant to be used for plant pots and stuff). Then just dry brush and it looks great!
@the_arcanumКүн бұрын
Very convincing result Peachy, it rocks ! And I love seeing how excited you are with that revelation. Next time you use wooden blocks, remember... it's wood. There's no glue that bonds it better than plain cheap wood glue. Just stick sanding paper on a board, have a few passes on it with the block side you want to glue to remove the paint and varnish for a better grip, coat it with glue, press it with the other block. I can guarantee you it won't break if you drop it from a table or a shelf. The hot melt glue ? I would not bet on it.
@chrisfowler9987Күн бұрын
This is awesome! You could cut the costs down significantly if you used a cheap textured spray paint for the base coat. It would prime and negate the need for filler...

@Peachy do you have advice for using the colour forge metallic primer Steelforge Silver? I'm not sure if I did anything wrong but I applied it like a primer but then found colours like my bold titanium white wouldn't stick, they moved around like overly watered down paint.
@PeachyTipsКүн бұрын
That happens a lot with most metallics tbf, I used to get this alot with the citadel ones, usually this happens when I’m applying a shade or contrast all over after the spray has been applied, I’ve found applying the paint then wiping it off seems to help resolve the hydrophobic issues, it kinda helps the following layers stick to the surface and not spread away. So maybe try applying the paint and wiping it off with tissue or a sponge, or apply an all over shade first and again remove that with a tissue/sponge, then start applying the colours you want Also dusting over with a Matt varnish spray works too
@Phlebas99Күн бұрын
@@PeachyTips Thanks! I think the matt varnish might be a good quick idea, I always finish models with a coating of it anyway. Can't believe how much faster it is for things like Trukks to be able to start with a metallic spray

Looks great! Few fun additions while keeping a mini around for scale: aluminum foil under PVA glue with sand (get the sand from a crafting store & extra bottle of 1/2 PVA glue, 1/2 water), wax paper (great thing to put down while painting), parchment paper & for the hot glue gun be sure to get an inexpensive ceramic plate to put under it (to easily clean, use extra blobs of glue & protect the table).

For Necromunda terrain, I wanted to go for a rusty, industrial theme. I used a textured "aged iron" in a can before adding color. Then, I base coated brown. Next, I used a series of sponged on craft paints. This process looks great and it's super cheap to do. I'm sure using sponged on layers of craft paint would work for other applications as well.

Looks fantastic. A bit of moss effect would work as well as the tufts. And perhaps carving out a bit of erosion and wear on the stairs would be cool. May have to see if I can find my kids old blocks and have a play. Anyway fantastic video Mr Peach. Keep up the great work.
