My 5 yr grandson has issues with clothing. He hates to wear clothes, and prefers to be naked. One question I have: How do you deal with people (strangers) who are offended when they see a naked kid.

One: When applying for a passport (U.S.), get TSA “Pre,” “Clear,” and “Global Entry.” These make going through security faster and easier- shorter lines, fewer crowds, you don’t have to take off your shoes. Two: When making reservations, request seating in the bulkhead section. This is usually located directly behind first class and is usually at the front of business and economy sections. It has more legroom and is usually the quietest place on the plane. Three: ask to be first when boarding the plane. It will give more room, more quiet and more time for you to get settled in on the flight. I am an Inward (Autistic)- officially diagnosed as a kid but was not told about it. I only learned about this 6 years ago (I’m now 61)! The tips mentioned above have really helped me!

I had never considered that getting off, would make it harder to get back on. I have an adult family member who is autistic and has a seizure disorder. She does work part-time but has disability payments to cover necessary medication (the part-time job does not have such insurance, and switching to full-time, would still involve a probationary period without insurance unless it's out-of-pocket, which she cannot afford). The medicines are necessary for her to stay alive. She is in a trap. At age 40, she cannot afford to live on her own. She has managed to live with another family member and buy a used car, which is amazing, but it has been hard. She has to track work hours carefully, so she doesn't go over the limit and disqualify herself for benefits, risking her life. My wish is that businesses and insurance companies would support people with serious conditions, who really want to be productive in society, but still need support to live. I would like to see insurance plans offered more for part-time work, or other supports like that.

As a trans autistic woman. This really helps me understand that it’s NOT just the hormones. It’s a STIM that helps regulate. I can also speak that when I was an adolescent. I was chronic as well and practiced my sexuality, very unhealthy. I felt like a monster. I’m much more sex positive/smart now in my later 20s. Just took learning, with a very late autism diagnosis

I just need a reminder to do the task and the step by step instructions. I want people to say directly you stink. If you don't say you stink like body odor I won't know. Then tell me to shower. If I stink like I fart just tell me I fart and go to bathroom. If I poop my diaper say you poop your diaper lets get clean up. If you don't tell me I am wet diaper then I won't know like today I wet through my diaper today because I didn't know i was wet. Just say as is. I won't be upset because you are saying the truth and you help me with my hygiene and it makes you happy and me happy so I don't have skin issues or body odor. Including in social skills and behaviors and many other skills with multiple steps. I like to feel clean and and I don't like the smell and my skin feels yucky if I don't shower. The sensory issues of the shower is hard to cope with. The part with shower with too much pressure like after they fixed the pipes down the street at dads house made it hurt a bit. The sun or bright lights. The small space so having a shower chair was helping me and the Ballance. I wish to God people saw that before and got me a chair. I thought it was for people who can't stand or walk. Then to have the shower head come off and to have a way to turn off the water to soap up. The best part is the flower scent stuff is the part I want. The hot water bothers me. The steam bother me. Them hot water to cold air in winter so hard for me. I hate water in my face and ears. The part is bubble bath I am in water and more comfortable for me. The thing is I can't get in a bath tub.

We just got approved for my sons disability. In the letter I received there was a long list of rules about what it can and can’t be used for. it seems I can’t use it to supplement the income. I’ve lost having to stay home with him. Is there any chance you can make a video to clear that up?

My son was diagnosed with autism at two years old, and my youngest daughter was diagnosed with syngap 1. It has been over a year and a half since I applied for SSI for my son and we barely got approved last month and we are still waiting to receive the backpay and monthly benefits so in reality it takes anywhere from one to two years to receive the benefits.

@ hi there sorry for the late reply, we flew EVA Air and had a stop over in Taipei, I love that airline they were really nice to Rosy, and also they help with the boarding and all.. I would say over all our trip to Manila was excellent , they are very understanding even the resort we stayed at, she had fun she was afraid of the beach at first but when she saw her cuzzins having fun she was ok 😊, but when you go on your trip let the airport or tsa staff know and they will make it easy w the whole screening .. where you flying to?

If you have a child who qualifies for SSI when they turn 18 they must go through recertification process as an ADULT and most will NOT qualify then anyway. So just know parent what they don’t tell you and what she’s not saying is 8 times out of ten your child will lose SSI at 18. If they can be a greeter at Walmart then they don’t qualify

thanks so much. we're having trouble figuring out how to teach it. the male autistic child is 10yrs of age and having erections. But recently this has gone beyond just the physiological reaction of getting an erect penis, but he's clearly having urges. but he doesn't know what to do. how to actually teach him what to do? should you try to teach "it" at all, or wait a little longer, perhaps a couple of years more? it's very hard to know what to do. edit: also I should add that a lot of the information in seeing is relating to verbal autistic kids. but in our case (my nephew) is minimally verbal (understands but doesn't speak fully except in segmented sentences and words mostly, sometimes fill sentences, but can't have normal conversations. affirms something by repeating and that kind of communications)

I have a nonverbal, autistic 6 year old son. I attempted to get a disability benefit for him but was told that my income was too high. So, I went another route for his benefit later. I opened up a custodial brokerage account for him(3 years ago). I intended to deposit his full amount of disability benefits each month in to his brokerage account had he qualified. That way later in life he would not have to worry about income.

But you said you make too much money for your son to qualify for ssdi??? Your suggestion to open an custodian account is not helpful.

I don’t mean to be mean, but Ai think it’s deeply screwed up that you mentioned your son’s masturbation habits in this video knowing full well that he would be deeply embarrassed, and I stopped watching the video at that point. I would be furious if my parents saw me masturbating and then decided to announce that fact to the entire world.

I got denied Social Security disability, after acquiring footdrop from spine trauma. They just told me to switch careers and go find something else to do. So I can only imagine how difficult it is to get assistance if you are slightly autistic. It’s gotta be rough.
