Introducing chores to your autistic child

Ok I'm a new dad to a kid on the spectrum... he is 11 years old and he is absolutely addicted to games weather they be on a tablet or on a game console... it is very hard for him to get the concept of helping out around the house now I believe he has never "really been expected to do anything" because his mom/my sweetie has made it very clear she can't handle conflict with anyone and she rarely says no to her son. So as a result he tends to take full advantage of the opportunity to do whatever he wants and when I try to gently remind him of his responsibilities he goes from 0-100 in seconds
