I knew the production was difficult but adding the romance plot, Azog the defiler, the battle of five armies, and dol-gul-dur arcs just destroyed the important parts with Mirkwood and Smaug. Bringing back Legolas wasn't bad, but he should have been a cameo, instead of a side character. They should have used that time to flesh out the darkness in Mirkwood and time in Thranduil's prison, and once Martin Freeman was back, focused on Smaug's game and attack.

if you loved the movies but never read the books, i urge you to not look at fandom and wiki pages about timelines etc. for those that want things ruined, open up this entire comment for spoilers: Frodo is 10 yrs older than boromir, by the time he started living with bilbo as his guardian he was 21 12 years later, bilbo leaves the shire and frodo gets the ring @age 33, another 17 years pass after bilbo leaves the shire, meanwhile aragorn and gandalf are looking for gollum, frodo hasnt even left the shire yet, hes now 50.......... in the movies they make it seem like bilbo left, frodo left, gollum got captured all in 20 minutes, youd maybe think it would be a year in that reality. but its actually been 17 years between when bilbo left and when frodo left the shire. why did tolkien leave such LONG spans of time between events, it only makes people wonder about what happened in that time that wasnt written about.

Obviously I have a lot more patience and understanding for a film of The Hobbit than I would with LotR. Peter Jackson made the greatest fantasy movies of all time with LotR. Given that The Hobbit is so much more childish and innocent than LotR, I’m honestly quite okay with how it turned out. Incredible job considering the headache of production.

I must have been one of the weird kids cos I hated Armada despite being in its target audience, I've never liked Anime in general but i distinctly remember hating the voices especially Megatron's and I wasn't super into the designs, the toys were cool though. Now I'm much older I do see the brilliance of Starscream's arc but back then I had no time for it and then I hated the Buzz Lightyear looking designs of Transformers Animated so much that I never watched it once.
