Great video. I also feel like I'm stuck in Audit, I didn't plan my career move after articles. The main goal was to qualify. After articles I felt stranded. Working for an international audit firm kinda helps though.

Hi Cwengile. I currently hold an Advanced Diploma in Professional Accountancy. I am now doing an advanced diploma in accounting sciences CTA 1at UNISA. Am I still on the right path to being an AGA(SA)? I am also not planning on doing articles should I pass both CTA 1 and CTA 2. For work experience, I am currently approaching 5 years working in the Audit industry

It depends. Articles will be 3 years if you enter into them having already got your degree. However, it will be 5 years if you enter them before obtaining your degree.

@@officerjamesofficial you will have to do it part-time but you can still finish your degree within its required time. The only issue is that if you enter into training contract with just a matric, you sign for 5 years, and not 3. If you finish your degree whilst in your training contract, SAICA reduces that by 12 months, so you end up staying 4 years, not 5. Summary: it's best to start articles when you are in possession of your degree.

Complete the BCom but take accountanting or financial accountanting as your major ,then once you've completed your BCom do a bridging course that's accredited by CA(SA), once you pass the bridging course you can apply for your CTA
