I don't know why KZbin recommended your channel, but I was so excited to hear from Americans who also moved to Puerto Vallarta. I moved there in 1993 following a vacation, and I just knew I had to go back. I got a job as an OPC at the Villa del Palmar, which is where I stayed on vacation. At first I lived in a charming, gated apartment building near the marina. Then, after having my apartment broken into twice, I moved to the whole other side of town near the Zona Romantica on a street called Calle Jacarandas off of Basilio Badillo. It was the most fantastic apartment, high up on a hill, backing up to the jungle with a full view of the entire bay, including the Sleeping Lady mountain to the north. It was HUGE, and every unit except the owner's penthouse (which I was just below) has a small swimming pool on a private balcony. If you haven't gone over that way and tried Marisma's street tacos, you simply must. It's on Naranjo at Venustiano Carranza. You will not be sorry, I promise you. I live in Redondo Beach, California, now, which I chose because it reminds me so much of Vallarta. I would so love to go back someday to visit and bring my husband so he can see where I lived, but I'm really afraid of how it will feel to me compared to how rustic and genuinely Mexican it was 20+ years ago. Back then, the biggest grocery and department store was Gigante. Now there's a Walmart and a Sam's Club ― yuck. Krispy Creme? Starbucks? No thanks. And an Office Max? What the heck? At least Señor Frog's is still there! LOL Thanks for the tour of your lovely apartment!

Hola! Thanks for watching and commenting! Sounds like you enjoyed Vallarta as much as we are enjoying it now. We, too, love the old Mexico feel which is why we live in the neighborhood. (Even though we are living in a very modern apartment). We will do a walking tour of our area soon, so people can get a feel for it. Those stores you mentioned are mostly up north near the hotel zone...too much like the states for our tastes. There are two Starbucks near the malecón but we go to the local stores.

Hello…coincidentally, I live in Temecula and I’m considering moving to Mexico. Is it possible for you to DM Fred’s contact info to me? Also, how difficult do you think it would be to find lodging with my 2 cats?

It doesn't seem to be too difficult to find a place that will accept pets. We have several friends with pets; and even in our apartment building there are several small dogs.

@RetiredLifeMexico10 сағат бұрын
Hi! The year-round temperature here in Puerto Vallarta is warm enough that we don't need any heating system. Other parts of Mexico do require it in the winter. I have an Air Fryer that substitutes for an oven...takes some getting used to, but I don't bake anything huge, so not a problem. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thank you for sharing I really relate to you two. Born and grew up in SoCal Pasadena area. Spent two plus years in Europe after high school, then Lake Tahoe San Francisco Oregon Hawaii Arizona and Northern California. College working raising my son as a single parent . Moved to the Oregon coast when he started U of O and when he graduated in 2013 and moved to Portland as a software engineer I sold my little house and started traveling in an RV like yourselves. I have wanted to move to Mexico for many years have vacationed in Puerto Vallarta and Costa Rica. I have always loved the laid back culture and the people and how much they value family like some of the European countries. I think I still have one big adventure in me and will follow along with yours

Considering you were staying for one of the most popular holidays of the year $1700 is a very reasonable amount to pay for 2 people. Our health insurance is Medicare A & B and then Tri-care for Life and/or Tri-care overseas. So far we haven't had to use the overseas part as the cost of getting to see a doctor is very reasonable here in Mexico.

Hello 🤗, New subscriber here. So glad you're enjoying Puerto Vallarta, my daughter and I spent a week there its beautiful. It was barely wheelchair accessible, most of the time we had to stay in the streets because of the side walks didn't have the cut outs. we were able to go fishing because the captain had extra help to carry me on/off the boat ⛵.
