Thanks for your support. I am feeling much better but will be sure to spray up every time we go outside now. It's amazing to me how many people say they have had it when you tell them you have it. I don't know why it's a secret.

Thank you for such an informative video. Yes it is really hard to eat anything or even drink anything when you're not feeling well. I just got a real bad bout of covid last month. Take care😊❤

Thanks for your support. Sorry about your case of covid. I have had covid 3 times and the last one was the worst. I thought at first this illness was covid but, no. I think we all react to the viruses differently so who is to say what is worse, covid or dengue. I'm glad you are on the mend as well. These darn viruses! Enjoy your day!

Thanks for another great video. We live in Monterrey,NL and my partner is still recoving from dengue after 2 weeks. We also thought it might be covid at first. He also said it the toughest thing he has experienced. Great advice on going to the doctor. Hope you have a continued recovery.

Wow! So sorry to hear that. I hope your partner recovers fully. I am about 3 weeks post first day of symptoms and I am still not full of energy. I feel much better, but after walking about a mile I have to take a nap. I agree, it is much worse than any Covid I had. I think a lot of people don't go to the doctor cuz they think it is the flu or who knows what, but a friend tells me he thought he needed to write a will cuz he felt so bad. Scary! Hope your partner continues to feel better. Drink that coconut water! The taste is growing on me :) It surprises me that dengue is in Monterrey. Is it due to the rainy season? Thanks for watching and commenting. Enjoy your day!

@@RetiredLifeMexico It is the first time with this amount of cases locally and yes it is largely due to flooding we had a few months ago due to a tropical storm that took us from a multi year drought to overflowing reservoirs. Over 5000 cases in September alone. He is trying to walk a little everyday yo get strength back. Luckily someone I mentioned his sickness to told me to take him to the doctor and get tested. Keep up the great videos.

Wow! Again, so sorry about your partner. Over 5000 cases is huge! I'm glad he went to the doctor. I think our strength will come back from eating, it took about 10 days before I felt like eating something and I started with miso soup. And lots of agua de coco. Nice chatting with you!

So glad you are recovering! I was very ill in Mexico last year, We stayed nearly 5 months during Winter, I didn't really notice any mosquitos, but the illness I had with muscle aches and pains, the doctor there also put me on Electrolytes water and several other meds ..( in Spanish)_ so I don't really know except one of the meds had Pectin which is good for a lot of symptoms. Thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes for a terrific Fall and Winter season. I shall be returning before Christmas.

Thanks for your support. Interesting that they didn't test for dengue? They say it diminishes during the "colder" season but we can't know for sure that it isn't out there. I'm glad you recovered from whatever you had...those Electrolytes are truly life-savers for me. Are you a member of the Friendship Club here in Vallarta?

@@RetiredLifeMexico I spend the majority of my Mexico time in the State of Puebla just south of Mexico City about 2 hours. It is cold at night like even in the 40's but during the daytime it's 75 or more... Because of nighttime lows and DRY season, I am sure I wasn't bitten by a mosquito.

I love Puebla! I'm so glad that you recovered from whatever it was. We were in Puebla this summer for 5 weeks and it brought back a lot of memories. I did some checking on the website: ss.puebla.gob.mx and found that last year, ending in Dec. 2023 there were 3,165 reported cases of dengue in 108 cities in the state of Puebla. Who knew? (also 6 deaths attributed to the dengue). Interesting information imo.

I'm happy you're recovering well. Mosquitoes loveeeeeeee me more than anyone else I know! I really didn't want to use DEET and as a result, I've tried so many things, it's ridiculous. But what works perfectly for me is Sawyer Picaridin 14 hour lotion. When I use it I get zero bites and believe me, that's saying a lot! And it really does last that long. Interesting that these mosquitoes are out in the daytime. Good to know, as I usually feel safer outside then. All the best for your continued healing. 🙏

Thanks for watching and commenting! Michael just ordered some of that on Amazon to pick up when we get to Texas in a week or so. I'm happy to hear that it is working for you. I can't stand the smell of the deet. Maybe this will work for me as well. Where do you live that the mosquitoes love you?

@@RetiredLifeMexico Oh, I hope it works for you too!!! Yeah, some of that stuff really stinks. This doesn't smell too bad at all. It's pretty faint. I'm in San Carlos, Sonora. It's a lot drier than where you are, but we still have our fair share of mosquitoes unfortunately. Probably not as bad as there though! I've heard of a few people here who have gotten Dengue so I know it's here.

I just read on the "salud.sonora.gob.mx" website that Sonora only had 17 confirmed cases of dengue but had 233 suspected cases by June of 2024. It appears that Sonora is proactive in telling people to be careful and not have standing water on patios, etc.

Glad to hear You are feeling better. Looks like you two went to the CMQ Hospital in the central of the Zona Romantica It is wonderful! Think I told you that I went to the foot clinic on the second floor there and also fell and hit my head and they saw me immediately, would go there anytime if I needed medical treatment. I lived in Puerto Rico for many years in the 1970s and we had Dengue Fever back then, so always had to boil drinking water........This was long before bottled water was a Thing. There is nothing to fear, but fear itself. Live and love your lives fully. God is good

No waiting and they are very kind and competent, even though the doctor I had was soooooo young! Michael may use the foot clinic that you recommended. Thanks for that. Really interesting, I was in PV in October 22 and became ill on the last few days. I thought I had covid but tested negative. I didn’ t leave the hotel room and I was ill for three weeks on returning to the UK. No appetite but the worst thing was the total feeling of exhaustion. Maybe I was bitten, I will never know, but will be aware when visiting again so thanks for the info.

Well, back in the day, we all thought that Avon's skin so soft protected us, but as my scientist husband says, the only proven repellent contains deet. At least 25% in the spray. Some people here swear by citronella spray. I guess they will use whatever they think works for them. I'm going with the deet.
