I had the same luck with the premium case and lighting kit for ECTO-1. About $75 I'll never get back, unfortnuately. Your build looks awesome!

Mego took a lot of artistic license with this playset, and the alien figures. Modern Mego has yet to make new playsets but the action figures are accurate now to their tv counterparts. This playset retailed for $19.99 when it was available in 1976.

More accurately, USS Maine was considered a 2nd class battleship, not a cruiser. Not well suited to either role; cruiser or battleship, she was for a time the fastest major warship in the American fleet.

The ship should be protected at all costs. The ship should stay here in Philadelphia. And it should be protected by the US government as a part of history as they protect other landmarks. The government uses tax payer monies for other other historic places and should do the same for the ship. Make it a museum and an attraction with shops, eateries, and classy restaurants. Hold events there and it will bring money back to maintain it. Make a true visible campaign for people to see its worth and get appeal to the country for everyone to try to help as well. But it is an embarrassing and sad situation to abandon and destroy such a beautiful piece of our history.

I just sold my amateur Airbrush with exactly this type of blackbox compressor with a red button. It was just too damn loud. Its like one of those early compact capsule coffee machine. People use at morning and it sounds like a power drill or something. This thing looks quiet sexy i probably get it secondhand

I was in Boston about 28 years ago when she was being overhauled. They still let us on the deck. I could not believe I saw the ship in person finally. Boston is an awesome city.

It’s been obvious to me for years that they needed dock the ship at a naval station to have any chance to her. They should have been doing everything they could to get her moved to the navy shipyard, Newport News or somewhere similar instead of paying $80,000 a month rent with zero money left for restoration.

ive got the same kit but building three other ships right now . if i may suggest , you should sand the pieces first before you use the tint o r dye on them

I use Starbond medium and thin CA glue. You get more and it costs less when compared to BSI, plus they give you extra tips which come in real handy. Check it out!

Any glue you decide to use is perfectly fine for any part of the build process.

It is sad to see this, but I have seen this all before, and the end result will likely be scrapping her. Lets hope not By seeing this before, I encourage you to look into the attempted rescue of the Kalakala, a historic ferry that was quite unique. The love of the vessel was there, just not the funding. Kalakala was kicked out of one mooring after another for failure to pay. Hefty mooring bills accumulated, and followed her everywhere. Places with mooring refused her because of those unpaid bills, and lack of investors left the Kalakala Foundation trying to bail out a sinking ship with coffee cups... Eventually she was sold (or ordered) to a breaker, and our hopes ended. I wish the S.S. United States all the best, but she clearly faces the same challenges we did with our beloved Kalakala. It was hard to watch...

Hey. You need to use woodglue on structural parts like this. You can use superglue for small parts and builds, but it's not recommended for the skeleton.
