I figured this out on my own, and have done this way before watching this. I am glad you are teaching this! This is also great if you are replacing outlets, and there is no room to put the wire on the sockets cuz there not enough slack given by the original installer.

I've never cut stringers before in my life but now I'm confronted with replacing two ten-step stringers. I get the concept of this jig, but I already have one (the old stringer). My problem is I know that with 40 cuts to make, I'll screw at least one of them up. Maybe I'll overshoot the line and cut too far into the stringer, maybe I won't hold the saw perfectly straight along the line and will be off a quarter inch by the time I finish a ten-inch cut. Trying to figure out a foolproof way to actually cut it.

We have used these for years and have 2 brand new out of the box n won't keep burning. It looks like the thermal couple isn't in the flame to keep the regulator on . We also have the filters and extension hose. Also bought the big one the 5 gal tank goes inside the cabinet. It caught fire and woke my wife screaming. Luckily it was close to outside door and I drug it out and hit it with a fire extinguisher. Coulda lost our house and her life.

Drill a hole in the corner of the riser to clean that corner instead of a sawsall.The radius will not split in the corner.Then sand a slight bevel in the stair tread to fit it tight.

Just buy one from the store and keep it. Then you can trace it onto a 2”x12” and adjust the heights & length as needed. Or just buy them.

I remember making a jig back in 2021 even tho I had a framing square, I just thought that the jig made me more efficient since I didn’t have those knobs to lock me in place. I didn’t want to keep double checking if my measurements were on point or not every time I had to measure for a new run and rise, so the jig helped out a lot 👍🏻 Although since then, I have been able to get my hands on those lock knocks for my framing square so I had to retire the jig lol. Plus that jig was only good for that one project’s specific staircase measurements 😃

Just out of the curiosity where did you get the 10 inch number from? Just because that is the length of the board you are using for the step?
@projectdiy873Ай бұрын
@Cocobrain26 I used 2 decking boards for my treads. In doing so that gave me a 1 inch overhang if I made the run 10 inches. That is how the 10 inches came about.

Good knowledge to have but people ALWAYS call 811, the service is free and in the event of damage to a service or communication line marked in the wrong place the repairs will be free. Not all underground will be marked since not everything underground is documented but will reduce the risk considerably ….
