Thanks for the hygienic boost recommendation. I am reading that you shouldn’t use mothballs, since the active ingredient you want is paradichlorobenzene, not naphthalene (typical mothballs). From what I understand (I’m not a professional or anything), naphthalene is toxic to both bees and humans. Not trying to be a know it all, and I assume as a beekeeper you are aware, just a caveat for newbies so they don’t poison their family.
@lomavistabeeco2 ай бұрын
@@mapache_del_sur you are absolutely correct about the mothballs. Those that I used were “p”-dichlorobenzene mothballs. I usually use the ice crystals, but Walmart was out of those. To be honest, the crystals are these same mothballs but crushed. I always look on the package for the “p” or “n” designation and buy the “p” labeled product. After I put the video up, I realized that I should have been more clear on the product I was using. Good catch and thank you for watching!
@mapache_del_sur2 ай бұрын
@ that’s awesome information and makes good sense. I kinda thought there must be something different about them, so didn’t want to assume too much. I don’t think people watching the video would try using the mothballs anyway considering the experiment failed. That would be kinda ridiculous lol.
