Thanks for the review. I recently got this one, and installed in a room where i have the Aqara Switch S1E. But i been having problems setting up the basics like turn it on or off. If i use switch for the relay to turn on/off then I can’t use the second button to turn on the side ring light. Then i tried not using any switch but just using them as wireless buttons. But somehow sometimes when i click turn on/off light then it does go on but then off automatically not sure why. (And vice-versa) any tips for this ?

@@whennn hi, when you say you use the S1E to turn the light on/off, is the S1E wired to the same circuit as the light itself?

@@whennn ok, combining a smart switch and a smart light is not usually good practice, as once you turn the switch off, you’re essentially disconnecting the light from power and therefore rendering the light offline. What you might be able to do, is set one of the wired switches to wireless mode, which then should allow you to control the light (you’d have to create an automation first) and also keep it online.

@@homekitnews yes that’s what my second point was, i change the S1E screen to now show the Relay switches but just Wireless switches, and then i create 2 automations. 1 for BUTTON 1 and 1 for BUTTON 2. Automations are if tap then ON/OFF the main light and side light respectively . The issue I’m face here is, sometimes. (And i have no idea why) when i tap one of those, lets say the main light, it turns off but then it comes back on .

The M3 and the MagicPad S1 are two separate devices, but the MagicPad S1 is not capable of being Matter Controller. If you want to add third party Matter devices to the Aqara ecosystem, you would need the M3.

@@omarr6712 if you already have an M3, then some third-party Matter devices you add to it can be controlled from the MagicPad S1. Did you by any chance try to use it with the M2 Hub? (by enabling Expose to Matter in settings on the M2) And if yes - would it then be able to be used like the M3 hub? REally annoyed i bought the M2 recently because they stated it would work with Matter back then.... (maybe I should have read more carefully....) I am looking for a way to use all options remotely - without having to shell out 3 times as much as the M3 cost.

@lovejoyone hi, if you mean did I try to add the U200 to the M2, it’s not possible. The M2 is only a Matter Bridge, which means it only exposes Zigbee devices connected to the M2 to other Matter platforms. you can’t add Matter devices to it, so you do need the M3 if you want to make full use of the U200 with Aqara home. You can do it without, but you’ll only be able to connect to the lock from your phone using Bluetooth, which means no remote connection.

@@mancerrss remote access would require you to unlock the door for them, but then would you want to do that every time a guest comes to the property? No, of course not. Guest access would require a passcode, so you still need a keypad. HomeKey requires an iPhone, which I’ve previously stated would require an iPhone or Apple Watch, but even then, Apple HomeKey currently requires the owner of the Smart Home to give access to the entire Apple Home setup, as you can’t simply share a HomeKey and not the whole home. Giving someone an NFC card means you need to physically meet someone to hand it over, or post it to them, which isn’t practical if you’ve got guests from overseas, plus it’s not very secure posting an NFC key to someone. Basically none of your suggestion work, sorry, this is why all smart locks still either come with a keypad, built in, or separately available.
