Got this winning line. It's also nice to find beautiful regrouping of pieces. Magnus does it a lot.
@thomasherbst67712 күн бұрын
A very instructive game for the amateur player especially due to its mistakes and simplicity. More instructive than many grandmaster games for somewhat advanced amateur players, which nicely shows the danger of a mobile pawn majority on the kingside.
@michaelf82212 күн бұрын
Sorry but isn't Ke8 a better defense than Kg8? I dont see how you're getting the rook into the attack if Qxf6+ Ke8 is played. That way it seems like it's only a queen attacking.
@fakeplaystore7991Күн бұрын
That loses the h8 rook with check and forces the black king to e7, where Re1 pins the e3 pawn in preparation for Kd5+. I don't see how Black defends that.

I don't believe Kovacevic...in his game analysis in Croatian (his native language), he stated that he did not understand Rona Petrosjan, but taking into account that Russian is similar to Slavic langs (at least when only letters and numbers are pronounced), he could clearly understand "e3"....it is similar pronounced in both Croatian and Russian.

Good game Zac, Thalia as well. Love to see the Kalashnikov doing well. GM King's Chessable course is fantastic, as well as the book! His Anti-Sicilian course/book are the perfect compliment. I own them all and have enjoyed incredible success against e4 players. I do highly recommend whichever form of media is your preference. They are my favorite courses and also my favorite chess books. Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to the World Blitz finals, later this afternoon.

When the white pawn captures on d5, it creates the pawn structure that GM Rios calls the Najdorf of the first type: d6-e5-d5. Happy New Year!
@eugeniomoccia39174 күн бұрын
Ciao Daniel, is it possible to take the strategic ideas of the Najdorf (both for white and black) with the Kalashnikov, given that they have a similar pawn structure with d6-e5? I wish you a Happy New Year!
@PowerPlayChess4 күн бұрын
Of course. The structures are very similar. In my chess career I have played the Kalashnikov, the Sveshnikov and the Najdorf with Black. It's not a coincidence: they are strategically related. But watch out for the small differences, they can have a big effect.

while true, its fairly safe to say winning up a pawn would not have got my game onto the channel! Sometimes it's better to be an artist than a butcher.
@BeFourCM2 күн бұрын
@@zacmrd I agree. I had many games where I missed some tactical opportunities but if it weren't for that they would have been less attractive. Another added benefit was that the games ended a bit more quickly in some Open Tournaments which is quite important when you have 2 standard time control games a day. Having enough energy is an important factor as I tend to calculate less when I'm tired.
@CyprusAve2 күн бұрын
Yes, shame black missed that. This tactic actually comes up all the time as whites play was so natural to this point. I'm sure he won't miss it next time though

I am a Patreon supporter and love your content. I appreciate quality over quantity and really enjoy, and learn, from your analytical approach. I just looked at the WC 2024 Rapid match between Murzin and Caruana playing the Sveshnikov and am curious on your take where Caruana went wrong. Perhaps it is just as instructional to look at losses with the Sveshnikov to understand the strategy better? Just a suggestion 😁.

And if you don't make any more videos, I wish you a Happy New Year!

@eugencharles33847 күн бұрын
Hey Daniel, I already wrote in the chessable forum but didn't get an answer there. In the 5. Bxc6 Rossolimo with h3 and d3, what should one do if white castles move 8 instead of playing 8. Be3? I looked at this line with a friend of mine who plays the rossolimo and it just seems like a huge improvement for white, because black doesn't have a nice way to get e5 in and if 8. ... b6, White has Bf4, which is a much better square for the white dark squared bishop than e3.
@DuffmanChess7 күн бұрын
8...Ne8 9.Bf4 f6 10.Be3 b6 11.a4 e5. The knight will head to d4 by going to c7 then to e6 or b5 depending on how play continues. Black doesn't want to play ...b6 as it is a waste of time. So Black only plays that move when they have to defend the pawn.
@PowerPlayChess7 күн бұрын
As @xgtete correctly says, there is no need to play ...b6 if the pawn isn't threatened. 8...Ne8 is indeed a good move to swing round to the middle: e8-c7-e6. Once the knight reaches d4, as usual Black is fine.

Instead of the Rf2 blunder, why not Bc6 so as to be able to avoid forced exchange of bishops and potentially use the bishop to attack the black pawns which were stuck on white squares?
