You're correct on a production line in Australia. If the Chinese were to setup and manufacture their EVs , it will drive the prices up due to high cost of labour. Also if look at the assembly line in China. 85+% are automated. It is mostly robots. That's what is keeping cost down.

I wouldnt hold your breath for a solid state battery. Many manufacturers and battery companies are talking it up but there are NONE that are ready to be manufactured in sufficient quantity. The Rimaz has SS batteries but it cost millions!!!

Seems ur very biased toward them. You neglected their debt is apparently nearly 80billion and debt ratio of 77%, which brings them to where Evergrandes debt ratio was when it went bankrupt. Who’s going to looking after a repair or warranty when they are not around🤷🏻♂️. Plus reliability is yet to be proven and will we risk all the cars getting turned off with the looming war ahead! 🤷🏻♂️

Dont know where you get your figures from but BYDs debt as of September 2024 under US$58B and over the last 5 years their total debt is decreasing. Sounds pretty good to me. Cash flow per share was +US$4.87 as well

Hey Grumps I’m selling my old Colorado dual cab Ute kept for remote camping and towing duties and trading in my Atto 3 on a Shark purchased on a novated lease FBT exempt. Very good deal, I’m hoping to run it as an EV as much as I can, getting closer to retirement and seriously need to start reducing my car running costs. I will really miss the Atto brilliant car though 👍😁

I’m nervous for BYD growing too fast and release new cars every week. How much Rnd etc. Have a shark on order but still nervous about the whole thing. Dealership experience was poor but that could be that brand of dealer. North lakes. Yet to test drive to make my mind up. 🍻

BYD customer service is still abysmal and I say this after over 2 years of ownership. I remain unable to get a physical (paper) record of my Atto via a Service Log Book. Otherwise I can only say I would buy another BYD in a heartbeat as their build quality is great. Just make sure you turn off the settings that go off to regularly on a normal drive.

I have a good dealer experience and 30000km on my Atto 3 and would back BYDs build quality and technology against any legacy auto brand. I’ve also ordered a shark and Looking forward to a mobile 30 kWh generator in cyclone season. 😁👍

Oh yeah, Nigel! And I'm the guy who can only clap to that! BYD is a humdinger. What the Ford was a hundred years ago. And Tesla is now. After a year in ATTO and another year in SEAL --- I can vouch for that. In my opinion, AU will soon be full of BYD Sharks too! I was in a car-making company once. Namely Mitsubishi in Adelaide. They have increased the size of the on board battery over the years but it still not enough. Even the BYD Shark has a supposed 100km electric range that is closer to 70-75km real world and that has the furthest range

Current Labour Govt too scared in Australia due to looming election to mandate targets. However, as Australia rides on the coat tails of the UK in right hand drive vehicles, it will affect Australia anyway. Australia is not a big market for RH drive vehicles, so if the UK declines in ICE cars, so will Australia.

I suggested the MG4 as a small car replacement to my brother in the UK as cheaper than the petrol equivalent. To my Surprise the cheapest MG4 is 27000 pounds in the UK ($54000 AUD). We do get a good deal here!

Im looking at the sigenergy bi directional charger for home battery and possible ev if I head down that road. Worse part is not knowing how big a home Battery to buy if say a xpeng or model y can do a v2x

Yes a dilemma. Think about the times your car isnt there. Do you work for instance. Probably a standard 13.5lWh battery will be sufficient in that case. If you are retired and home a lot - like me - then maybe a smaller one. Me personally Im going as big as I can afford in my next house (yes the Sigenergy one seems appealing)

Personally, I wouldn't connect to the grid, just VTH. The payback for exporting to the grid would be pitiful. So just use the cars LFP battery in the main and also have a smaller battery connected to the house for when the car is not there. The new Geely Aegis short blade batteries have an energy density of 192Wh/Kg - not bad.

In sweden you can actually have to pay the grid if you provide power when its not needed, since it upsets the frequency of the net, making it instable.

If this vehicle is to gain market share in Australia. It will have to undercut its competitors in price. Australia has one of the most competitive auto markets in the world. Australians like a bargain. That means a good price. So it will need to be under 30,000 AUD. The Australian car market is going to get very hot for affordable Chinese electric cars. Australians want affordable new cars. Not expensive rip-offs. For example, the new Chery Tiggo-4
