"their poor quality control would have contributed to my death, but by golly what a bargain". This is an incredible comparison, but your ranking system weighs durable embroidery equally to lifesaving capability, so the last few minutes of this vid arent your best work. You still rock and thanks again!

Does the GTN 750 know your indicated airspeed from the G5? If so, then theoretically you can use your ipad to fully recreate the PFD by sending all of that data out through flightstream. I know all Garmin avionics are "integrated", but there integrated and then there's integrated. Just trying to get a sense of which one it is.

Good for you! I have a funny feeling this particular DPE was already on their radar! I really believe there are some (limited) DPEs that look for a reason to fail people so they can have repeating paying customers??? I believe you reporting her has saved other new GA or Instrument students being exposed to the grief of being evaluated by her!!!

I know this is some time in the past but this DP needs to be disciplined or her licenses suspended! Ridiculous!

Hey! Don't clamp the ground to the exhaust pipe! There's videos about why not. Clamp the ground on the tiedown ring. Much better ground for your tanks.

When something happens to me that I think wasn't right, like in your case with the DPE... I always reach out to a supervisor/mgmt or something. Not to be a Karen LoL but because the majority of people stay silent and will never speak up, which leads to the situation to continue for more people. I try to be a bit more bold and stick up for myself and others regardless of consequence. Happy to see you did! look at the response you got from all those people that also shared that experience. I'm sure it made them feel heard. Keep up the flying dude! love your videos

Everyone has 'dumped' their ADFs. It might be a good idea to keep it. Why would we do this with GPS? ANSWER: In case of meteor shower/solar activity, or military conflict, GPS could become vulnerable, and FAA is hell bent to get rid most VORs. Additionally, GPS/Next-Gen may be "hackable," though such has yet to be reported. ADF will STILL point the way to commercial radio AM transmitters, and there are hundreds of them. If one were to chart the locations of those transmitters, and their frequencies, power and directional patterns as non-directional transmitters might be best. ADF becomes a cross check on the accuracy of GPS, and in GPS failure would be useful. Also, you, or passengers, could listen to the radio. (NOTE: Most light aircraft are not, as yet, likely feasible candidates for inertial nav systems.)

This is a great video. Now we all know to cancel a check ride if it seems even a little sketchy with the dpe.
@sixwillwin2 ай бұрын
$900 isn't bad. Thats cheaper than alot. Total time into it for a DPE is similar to your aircrafts hourly shop rate. Do you any idea what is required to get and maintain a DPE approval? And you cant just "stop" a checkride after the test has begun. After it starts, there are 3 possible endings= Approval, NOD or letter of discontinuance. It sounds like she was unfair, would like to hear her side. And a failed checkride is no blemish on your record. Many great pro pilot's have failed checkrides.

I went on a discover flight ride a few weeks ago…. It was suppose to be 1 hour of flight…well the flight I was taken on only last 45 minutes….i felt cheated out of 15 minutes of flight….cost $285….and the cfi put in my log book .8 hours of flight….is it right for me to feel slighted…or slightly cheated …..I was thinking this as we land but didn’t want to confront the cfi by asking why we didn’t do a full 1 hour of flight… what do you guys think…am I being petty? Should I have asked the cfi why we touched down with 15 minutes left….i was told beforehand the flight would be 1 hour
@E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-Ай бұрын
Never feel like you can't ask your CFI anything. There are no stupid questions. It may have been weather related or maybe he wasn't feeling well but asking will never (should never) backfire on you. $285 is about what you can expect to pay per hour and it's rated by time not a flat rate. There are cheaper options though like a club. If money is an issue and you are passionate about flying see about joining a flying club and you can also say you own a plane which is pretty neat.

Appreciate your honesty. And enjoyed this! This year I got checked out in a Comanche 250 and it's different! But totally related to your "don't touch anything on the runway" comment. I own my plane. I'm saving my breaks. I'm dumping those flaps! LOL

I think $900 was the second lowest I paid for any checkride. 😢 PVT was $800, and the rest were all $800-$900 except for CFI which i think was $1,200

Great review Tommy. My first Mooney was aso a '66 and I now own a '65. I purchased with some nice mods. (real J Cowl, South West Texas speed slope windshield, Wingtip fairings and later J Dorsal closure. Your panel is wonderful and with the Garmin Autopilot will be a super plane to fly anywhere in. Enjoy! (I KNOW I AM WAY LATE TO THE PARTY LOL)
@LunchBox_SB3223 ай бұрын
Hey Tommy it sucks when you get an asshole DPE like that for $900. It would be unfair if you didn't report this so called DPE, because their are other pilots that will fall in her Fly Trap. Also I think that as an airman you hold a responsibility to report it to the FAA. Im glad that mine only cost $400.

I see you had a propane tank. So when you climb the pressure in the propane would go down is there a risk that when you land at an airport it could have a higher pressure and cause the propane tank to rupture?
@Tommyflies3 ай бұрын
@@thefallenrift1705 thought about that but those tanks are built to withstand a lot more pressure than the few PSI differential caused by the climb. It’d be like driving the tank to Denver 🙂

It’s unbelievable what people can do and will do when you get the Government out of the way. Like the STUPID fire chief that threatened to arrest the hello pilot if he rescued the second half of a married couple or the Police Chief that wanted to arrest the Marine for trying to put on a fund raiser for the victims.FEMA forget about even considering them.
