I am glad you did this, just for your own sanity. You are exactly the kind of person GA needs. Thank you

When something happens to me that I think wasn't right, like in your case with the DPE... I always reach out to a supervisor/mgmt or something. Not to be a Karen LoL but because the majority of people stay silent and will never speak up, which leads to the situation to continue for more people. I try to be a bit more bold and stick up for myself and others regardless of consequence. Happy to see you did! look at the response you got from all those people that also shared that experience. I'm sure it made them feel heard. Keep up the flying dude! love your videos

I know the DPE you had. I had the same little old lady at KEXX for my PPL earlier this year. She failed me on the oral after rescheduling twice so she could get multiple rides lined up on the same day. She asked me about aircraft inspections and I correctly stated that a 100hr inspection is only necessary if the airplane is used for training or commerce/hire. Just an annual for a personal airplane, which I have. So that cost me more $ for a retest and remedial training. Then during the flight she talked about Taylor Swift half the time and the flight was short and easy because shenwaz rushing to get to her next guy. In the end the checkrides cost me like $1200, and after retraining and flight time it totalled around $2000 down the drain. It put me off going for my instrument after the experience.

Good for you! I have a funny feeling this particular DPE was already on their radar! I really believe there are some (limited) DPEs that look for a reason to fail people so they can have repeating paying customers??? I believe you reporting her has saved other new GA or Instrument students being exposed to the grief of being evaluated by her!!!

Safety always. A bad DP is very unsafe. Nice "self reflection." She needs to be reported by anyone was treated like she treated you. To say Good Job is wrong. Great job! A ton of learning for you and you helped the aviation community. Just great. Keep the blue side up.

Good job and nice flying. I did a couple of my rides with our local FISDO, saved a bunch of loot that way, and the DPE for my other rides was a super nice guy. Always sad to see aviation despoiled by bad apples.Greed corrupts.

I'm glad overall my instrument check ride experience was a lot better. I failed my first attempt since I circled in a area on the plate that was listed as "restricted at night", and the simulated conditions was nighttime. The examiner kept repeating "Just to be clear we are simulating night time situation", so I should of taken the hint. He felt the only remediation that was needed was just a debrief on the circling requirements since the rest of the check ride was to standard, so was able to reschedule quickly. We rescheduled for 2 days later and I passed.

@@mbirdie12 “N123 entering the 45 to join downwind” there’s no such thing as a teardrop. It’s not in any of the official documents.
@Tommyflies
@Tommyflies 4 ай бұрын
Yep. What he said 👆. The “teardrop entry” is really just you flying over the field, past the pattern (far past), and then turning back in (maneuvering) into the downwind (via a 45 degree entree), thus it’s just a 45 degree entry. A lot of people are “teardropping” into the pattern too close and making turns against the pattern flow, which is dangerous. Scary part is that it’s being taught all over.

Tommy, it looks and sounds like your a very solid pilot, so it's disgraceful that you have that mark on your record. You should put her on blast so this doesn't happen to someone else.
@Tommyflies

I get that perspective, it’s just not my personality to blast someone. She’ll get what’s coming to her eventually. In the meantime, I’ll keep passing check rides and building hours 🤙

Wait a minute, you failed to check the ATIS on the assumption your preflight weather hadnt changed? Didnt that get you in trouble once? Or talk about the wind sock? But I will say your checklist use is very professional and I think you will make a GREAT regional pilot. Not shitting you. Hope the market gets back to where it was. Get over that checkride; it wont matter in the long run.
