If anybody has experience with after surgery recovery and kickbox training please read and help me out. I am 45, I have had 5 smaller surgeries in the past 2 years, I gained 30 kilos during recovery. I don't have any heart, muscle, or spine issues. I used to train in kyokushin(2 years) and judo(15 years). Last judo training I had 17 years ago. Doctors say I recovered from surgery well. What I am certain of is that if I want to live to be a dad for my 2 sons(8 and 6) and a husband for my wife, I need to take some kind of action. My mind is more than ready. Does anyone have experience similar to mine. Martial arts are close to my heart, I don't really see myself in any other kind of sports. After walking in the first phase of recovery I tried jogging, it didn't work out for me, I was bored, so I started practicing with kettle bells after I recovered from my last surgery. I started with 8kg kettle bell, within a month and a half I am doing a full 35 minutes routine with a 16 kg kettle bell twice a day. I lost 5 kg within a month, I fell way better. I would like to take it up a notch and start for example beginner kickboxing training , I am from Croatia and we have a tradition and an abundance of awesome martial athletes here, and we have an abundance of great gyms. I was wondering if anyone was in a similar situation, how are your personal experiences.

I don't see ONE ever rivaling the UFC especially after what been happening like DJ retirement, Mikey leaving ONE, and them fumbling Sage Northcutt. Also RDR warning other fighters to not sign with ONE. It's not looking good for ONE

When I turned 65 two years ago I developed lower back pain. I had a desk job most of my working life, plus when I retired at 63 during covid I did a lot of sitting at our kitchen bar. I got checked out by a back specialist and tests proved nothing devious was going on internally. He sent me to a physical therapist which didn't fix my problem. Then I stumbled upon a video on the benefits of squatting, supplemented by this video. Wow, what a difference, I am actually making progress on reducing my back pain and stiffness. Additionally my core muscle strength improvement has made it noticeably easier to get in and out of my car. Who would have guessed the simple act of squatting could be so beneficial. And now when I use a squat toilet in Asia, it is not challenging anymore in the least. In fact I prefer them. Good luck everyone, this exercise really works!

do you have any recommendations for people with sensitive skin? i get Gi rashes from friction
@Krufessor_Rad12 күн бұрын
I am very sorry, but I don't. If your condition is caused by friction and not an allergic reaction to specific material it may be unavoidable. One option may be to wear a long sleeve rash guard and some grappling spats under your gi. They are worn to protect from friction. I hope that helps.
@linda_bertino12 күн бұрын
@Krufessor_Rad it's kinda what I had in mind, thank you. My gym just gets so hot here in Florida that I avoid the long sleeve rash guards. I typically wear the short ones, hence the friction on the arms. But i guess I have to deal with the extra heat

Every time i hit the heavy bag my wrists hurt and idk why
@Krufessor_Rad13 күн бұрын
Could be the angle you're throwing your punches. Could be that you're not stacking your joints. Are you wrapping your hands and securing your wrists? Sometimes nicer gloves with strong wrist support can help. Also, try doing exercises to strengthen your forearms. Mostly you want to check your form. If you have a coach. Check in with him and have him check your form on the bag and correct any issues. I hope that helps.

You should have a pull up bar at home, preferably full-time and close to where you are most of the time. I have one in my bedroom doorway and hang ~ 5 Xs a day for 30 seconds (I'm5'10"). At 6'4" it would be hard to get the full benefit from a doorway mounted bar, especially one where you can still close the door. Ideally, you would mount one to a wall or ceiling in your hallway. Instead of an inversion table, you could get gravity inversion boots (a big plus is much less space to store them). Then, hang from your pull-up bar. Warning: you need a pretty stong core to lift your body up to the bar to get out of it so you will want to have something that will allow you to lift your legs off the bar w/o having to reach up to it (eg rings).

What about super angel bag for kickboxing
@Krufessor_Rad14 күн бұрын
Those are good, but they are highly specific so if you are going to spend the money and can only hang one bag those wouldn't be the best option. If you have a rack and hang multiple bags then yes. You can get some of those up.

I'm looking to get into Marshall arts when I'm done with sports and I have pretty close to zero experience in any type of martial art. I've been doing some digging into doing BJJ and Muay Thai to learn new skills and be able to defend myself. Do you think it would be possible to learn two different martial arts at the same time. I want to keep doing the sports I do, so I'm obviously going to have to do some compromising for recovery sake and time constraints
@Krufessor_Rad20 күн бұрын
@@michaeldietz7793 I spoke about that in the video. It is a matter of the time you have to commit to training in multiple martial arts and how it will affect your ability to learn, but if you can make the time and are okay with taking in all the information. Do it. If you plan to keep doing other sports as well that is where your time may run thin. So you’ll have to figure out how to balance all of that. Something may have to take a backseat so you can focus on whichever thing you decide should be put at the forefront.

Thanks so much for this!! I have largely fixed my knees using the Seiza position for a few minutes a day. But I lack lower body mobility and strength and now you have shown me how to get back to health in this area using the same basic effort as the seiza!! YAY!! This will be a game changer for me.

I recently bought a Teeter LX9, concurrent with finally visiting a chiropractor for serious back pain; I wish I had done both five years sooner. I also do dead hangs and dips. After eight head injuries since 1960, with some balance issues after the last one in 2019, I was concerned about potential problems with inverting, but I have no problems at 60+ degrees.

I feel amazing after sitting like this for a few moments. I don't consider myself all that mobile but I have no problem getting into a good asian squat. Thus I'm a bit surprised that so many can't get into it comfortable - even a fighter like Rad here who do a lot of mobility work. That said, I've been doing a bit of these at the gym before just because they feel great which might've helped me doing the easily now.

I have the elite gel evos by venom and have tried so many brands and I agree they are the best as far as protection+ form factor. I also prefer the double strap over hook and loop because the loop portion always defrades and rips over time

In Asia, at least in the 70s and 80s, we did this since young, although we don’t visit the gym to do this, we just go for a poop in the toilet.
