I love Bones and All! Also (as always) adding to my tbr from your videos because you describe books so well. Welcome back!

Good point about how Coriolanus is in a similar position to those in the districts but doesn’t show sympathy or think that they’re his equals. I also didn’t really view the book as a “villain origin story” or that the point was to gain sympathy from the readers. I felt that Coriolanus was manipulative and all the other traits you described him with, but I never really felt like he was insufferable to read from the perspective of. I think this takes place during the point in his life before he would have become insufferable to read about. I thought it was interesting to read from his perspective because we were able to know his true intentions and feelings behind his words and actions. I guess this book wasn’t necessary, but I personally enjoyed it. It didn’t answer everything, but there were some things I enjoyed learning about, like the origins of some of the things for the Games or the songs. I agree that it would be interesting to learn about when and how Panem was formed, especially because it is confirmed to have formerly been North America. So, some kind of answer to that would be fascinating. I don’t think that reading about someone else’s Games wouldn’t have been boring, especially because the arena is different each year (well, later on) and because the technology for it progressed over time. Besides that, I always found the Games to be so interesting and entertaining. From just the mentor’s perspective wasn’t as interesting, though, especially without the advanced technology that can show the tributes at all times. “Coriolanus is only gonna run away with her because some events have happened that implicate him in a murder. And by some events I mean that he murdered someone.” 💀😹😹

Sucks to hear about education of malice, I was hoping it would be good 🤧 I haven’t read the author’s really great first book yet (heard a lot about it of course)

A sorceress comes to call is one I have on my shelf as well because I like what I have read of t kingfisher before! I have the first book in the all for the game series and I am so excited to delve in because people say it is perfect for fans of the raven cycle. The rachel harrison book sounds so good? Vampires are always a yes please to me. I didn't like the vegetarian either. It was super unsettling which was all intentional but it just didn't work for me on many levels. I was interested in stars in your eyes and then removed it from my need to read list after your review >.> I think the dune films are so much better than the book... but I did like the world building in it. I need to read little rot as well.

Interesting that you found the Dune book boring😂😂I’m on the fourth book right now and I will say that the second book is by far the best book I’ve read so far, while books three and four are very similar to book one, so I would suggest to at least read the second one, in my opinion it’s the best one out of the series.

Welcome back! Best new book: Codename Charming by Lucy Parker; Worst book: How to date men when you hate men by Blythe Roberson (she doesn't really hate men lol at least not like me and my friends)

you and i have the exact same type in fictional men lol i love a sad boy (notice how louis from interview with the vampire is also a depressed, long-suffering man with trauma 🤭)

as someone who first read aftg in middle school, the sunshine court was such a delight. i’ve read a lot of aftg fic but haven’t revisited the series in a while. loved getting to know jean and getting put back in the insane universe that is aftg 😭 and i agree!!! my reading year has been very shaky. after so many disappointments, i have only read 2 books since april 🥲 need to find a good book so i can get out of this rut

Welcome back!! Also yes The Sunshine Court was sooooo amazing. All for the game is so close to my heart that I was worried, but it really worked for me. Running Close to the Wind was also VERY fun!! I laughed so much when I was reading it.

So happy to see you back in my subs 🥰🥰🥰 agreed with the Sunshine Court, it utterly destroyed me and I thought it was a great continuation of aftg. Also many thanks for being my go-to for polyamorous recs 💜💜💜

Thank you for the commentary on the SOA racism storyline! Like wtf, I fell off shortly there after. Rebel Moon you just shut your brain off and let the special effects mesmerize you.

2024 has been mid as far as readings have gone. I tried my hand at reading a paranormal romance series but it was the worst series I've ever read. It's called Stay a Spell but my favorite series/books I've read was this manga series called "Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!" . It's so good like I'm obsessed with it. Can't wait to read volume 11. Hoping to find better reads this year

Yay, love to have you back. I also love Kaladin! I am in the middle of Words of Radiance now but then I heard it was best to read Warbreaker and Dawnshard to get some Cosmere easter eggs in Words of Radiance??? but like, I am halfway through, how can I just stop. Do I just accept I will miss some stuff or do I stop, read the other two, and come back? I have a real dilemma LOL. it's not even that serious...

Mina, if you are still vibing with vampires and don't mind that particular wordy-snarkiness (joss whedon/buffy of it all) of 2003, id recommend sunshine by robin mckinley if you havent read it already. its NOT my favorite book, but it has enough meat to chew on and digest. i just really enjoyed how the protagonist is an adult and acts like it, like this is someone who pays taxes and considers risking it all 👍

You're so right about the sunshine court! I bought it and started it out of nostalgia for the original trilogy but then got so sucked in by sweet bb Jean ❤ Also I'm definitely adding Icarus to my tbr! My best books of the year have been The Sign for Home by Blair Fell, World Running Down by Al Hess, and Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh.

I wasn’t sure Kathryn Moon could ever write something on the same level as Lola for me, but Howl for the Gargoyle got there. The character and relationship development truly was beautiful.
