I have a 2014 Speedmaster (different bike I know) but I’m totally in love with my bike! Now thinking of a larger one, videos like this make me think sticking to the Speedmaster name.

I had a Speedmaster 900 . I owned it for years, not the fuel injected model but the older choke version. It popped and banged and when I started it up on the company car park all heads turned. I rode that bike from the North West of England all the way to the Algarve in Portugal. That was back in 2011. Amazing. 👍

I love the Speedmaster, howver I love my XL1200T and don't think the Speedmaster worth to exchange my bike. Thank you, you are an eye opener. I'm agree with you for Harley. The XL1200T is my last Harley, the next one will be maybe Triumph or something else, not Harley or Indian.

I remember 2 experiences with passengers that stand out during my past. First one a young guy, never been on a bike before ( I really should have asked him ), stayed bolt upright during turns. Lethal. Coming into a round about, leaned left, and by him sitting bolt upright, threw me very wide. Dangerous indeed. ALWAYS ask if they have ridden pillion. Bike was a Ninja 600. Second experience was with a lady friend. She was a larger woman, and I'm a skinny bloke. Riding in town, so slow speed riding, and slowing down for traffic lights. She decided to get "more" comfortable, and pushed down with ONE foot only. This really unsettled the bike, and made it harder to control at slow speeds. Bike was a GSX 1400. After explaining a few things to both parties, subsequent rides were much improved. Communication is key I feel. Lesson learned 😉
@TheSpeedmasterRick3 ай бұрын
Yup. communication is the key, and I think especially for guys who are not comfortable hugging other guys, as there first inclination is to keep a certain distance and sit straight up / counter balance into turns. As for your second experience, that's kind of funny, thanks for sharing!

I like the idea of the Speedmaster. Only thing I did not like about it is the low fuel capacity.

I salute your bravery in going against popular opinions of most cruiser riders, you're going to get some blow-back. That being said, you explained your reasoning for going with the Speedmaster well, and I think your points make sense for you. Speedmasters seem more like a standard bike with forward controls to me, and I'd be interested in knowing how the bike does on the highway as far as stability in cross-winds and long-term comfort goes. You're right about the bikes looks though, it really is a good looking bike.

I believe this Triumph Speedmaster is a true British legendary old-school classic, the most gorgeously "designed" cruiser available! As I pass by, the sound of the engine makes heads turn with a smile, and they acknowledge (not that I'm searching for one). Finally, it's all about you, the Speedmaster, and the road ahead. Stay safe and enjoy the ride!

This video has informed and reassured me( it'll be OK!) A big thankyou! Thanks for the pillion advice that too will be interesting! Cheers from OZ.

Love it! This really tickled me. 20 years ago Harley had a lineup of more stripped-down cruisers, my fave being the springer classic, gorgeous bike. It's only recently that every swingin' dick had to have the fairing & bags deal, one dude's bike exactly like the next guy's, just billions of the goddamned things, the ultimate example monkey-see monkey-see. Sonny Barger back when (he rode a Sportster) called the fairing bikes "garbage wagons." But yeah, at the best of times Harleys are big bloated bikes ridden most often anymore by big bloated boomers with pipes making a big bloated obnoxious sound. And yeah, there are so many of 'em now they are a rolling cliche that is literally everywhere. And the tough guy aura they are all trying to affect, most tiresome and extremely worn-out at this stage of the game. I had a springer back when and loved it for the classic 40's look, but because of the association Harleys bring with them i always felt a bit like a knob. (I wore a sportbike jacket and full face helmet when all the guys had their branded Harley gear and little pinhead helmets and you could smell their neurons frying. Just couldn't wrap their heads around it.) Speedmaster is a fantastic bike and so is that 1200 Bonneville engine. I have it in my 2017 bobber standard Bonneville, which is just a flawless machine, ride, power, looks and handling. And sounds like a fine sportscar. Like the Speedmaster. So much more fun than that Harley of mine ever was. Triumph was always the confident cool bike that wasn't trying too hard. Harley just screams "i am trying too hard." They're on their way out now at any rate, going down the tubes. Course you could always go for today's Indian Chief and it will be like sitting on top of a Lincoln Continental... or a blue whale the thing is so damn enormous. Best description of Harley riders i ever heard, by the way: "Harley Riders - rugged individuals who go to great lengths to all be exactly alike."

Did you trade your bike in at Motorcycles of Dulles? 99.9% positive that's my bike I just purchased last week. They had told me that the guy who traded the bike in traded for a 2nd Tiger to have in Florida with his son because of the rough roads :). It also has the exact modified horn. So, I'm guessing it's your old bike. It's buttery smooth through third gear but shakes under my butt a little through fourth gear approaching 70mp when accelerating. Assuming that's normal for the bike. May be what you're referring to around the suspension. Small world!!!

I probably have a bias since I own one, but with that disclaimer in mind, I believe that the Tiger 900GT(mine’s a ‘22) is one of the best(overall)motorbikes ever built…and I have been blessed to own a variety of bikes…it’s truly the “Swiss Army Knife” of the 2-wheelers-pretty much does it all with grunt and grace. I did finally get-up the gumption to part with my tricked-out 2020 Speedmaster…it sold yesterday…I am now currently in therapy in attempt to get over separation anxiety🤪…if I had sufficient space in my living room, I would have undoubtedly built a pedestal for it to just enjoy viewing it on display😏 Alright, I have babbled on enough…best to you with the new 900GT…I suspect that you won’t see much of home while it’s under your ownership🤩…thanks for another thoughtful video🤠👍

Sorry to see you give up the Speedmaster. Enjoyed your thoughts on it. Though, it’s hard to argue with your next pick. That was where I was going, initially. Decided I already had a wunnerful ADV bike (CB500x) and wanted something in the cruiser style. The T100 was my next pick for a bike, but the differences of the Speedmaster made it more appealing. I didn’t want just another “up-right” style riding bike. From what I just heard and saw in this vid, 21:38 I’m the ideal rider for this bike. And I think my experiences with it confirm this. I like it a lot. Still have and enjoy the CB and wouldn’t trade it for anything. I enjoy the contrasts. Looking forward to seeing what you get into next. Peace, out.

Welcome back stranger....!! Hey, pity the Speedmaster has to go..., that's the reason I originally came here..., but the Tiger is also a good'n so i'm sure i'll hang around. I like your thoughts of becoming more proficient on a long term bike..., that's how I see it. After 9 years with the same bike, I have so much "muscle memory" while out riding, I get home after a long day out and still feel fit. After a couple hours on my 2nd bike, I feel the tiredness quickly creeping up on me. Whatever happens, I wish you luck..., and i'll see ya on the other side!

Actually the boxer stays cooler than the v twin due to the massive air surface. Also the fish mouth is a nod to the old models and is easily changed out to akropovic exhaust. Yes it is unusual looking but I am your same size and I enjoy riding a boxer. For me the speed master felt too small like I was sitting on top of the bike which I don’t like. I do love the speed master though and I wish you could sit more in the bike and it was bigger for aesthetics. But great choice. If I could afford it I would own a speed master as well as my BMW.

If you’re tall, look into the Dart Marlin for a windscreen for your Speedmaster. I’m 6’1” and it makes a HUGE difference for any riding over 50mph - 100mph + without any wind head buffeting. When I first got it I thought that it was going to be a waste of money since it’s only 8” higher from the center of the handlebars. With the dark tint, it looks amazing on my goldline. Wish I could send a pic

I THINK I may have captured it in the latest video I just released today, as I included a 'minimalist' windscreen recommended by one of the viewers, but I am not sure if it is 8" tall.
