Except for the Garberg or the Kansbold, mora knives are utility/ craft knives. Other than this two, I don't think Mora positions their knives as hunting knives.

Beating around the bush mate, just say what you really want to say that the industry is out for $$$ not practicality. The truth is one caliber, Sundays rags and a sleeping bag will do the business if you really want to. No ramblings required.

I have ridden both. A mule is more sure footed than a horse any day of the week. Went on several trails and the horses were slipping and sliding down a hill and the mule I just let go of the reins and give them the lead and they will get you there safely. They are smart and are survivalist and want to get you there safely. I love both but on a trek you want a mule.

During a light rain or fog is a great opportunity for firearm deer hunting if you know where they are bedding. Just drop your deer. Don't try a meat saver when tracking is dubious.

Staying in shape is critical, I go from 800 ft to 8000 plus on those hunts so that makes it more critical.

Side, I agree- figure a unit out and stick with it. I have been hunting the same two for ten years now- got em pinned down now. I’m like Drew in the fact that I started with no experience and putting the pieces together. I go in early for scouting- I think it’s pretty foolish not to if you can but I understand time is a factor, I drive 28 hours every time I hunt Colorado and I’m not doing it off the cuff!

Interesting philosophy. I've always used a 2 person tent for sleeping only and a larger tent or tarp for my cook shack. This is because I'm always in bear country and I don't want my sleeping area to have any scent to attract bear. I've also done a lot of tarp shelters with a good bivy or just slept under a spruce tree with a small tarp thrown over a branch. A lot of hunters here use those teepee hot tents for everything and just put a bear fence around it. There are lots of solutions that work. Whenever you do a fly out on Kodiak you need to think about high winds. That's where people get in trouble and it happens a lot. Tent failure is common.

Those Jim Green boots look interesting… but probably suited for more day hunts with a light pack, correct? Not sure if they would be the best choice for a few days packed into the backcountry?

All the twizzler stick Dudley wanna be's in the comments need to remember one important thing... some men can, some men can't. I can shoot a 32" 589 gr arrow set up at 80lb draw. Don't let your napoleon syndrome show because you can't.

I have great hunting clothes that work. I’m not brand loyal but I have no problem wearing Sitka and kings along with some others. I’ve just never paid over 30% of the msrp for it. Always deals if you scour the internet over the winter

Dr.Ed literally opened a continent to bow hunting with his study. Then there are these comments kinda laughable and sad at the same time.Indians killed bison with heavy chipped stone that surgeon's still use as it is the sharpest edge on the planet for the application at times.Just let that sink in a bit. Most importantly is gonna be shot placement for sure but we all know that doesn't always happen. You hunt enough you will have some mistakes its gonna happen!Reminds me alot of the .45 to the 9mil argument both kill but i lean .45 slower and more proven in stopping with one shot.

The British Army used horses to carry men and mules to carry supplies up to the end of the second world war... mules had advantages over mechanisation in difficult terrain during the campaign in Burma for example.

Right. The ceramic they use is pretty aggressive. So long as you keep the thing free of metal particles every once in a while (pencil eraser erases them) it’ll last a very long time. If you’re liking the ceramic, spyderco has some EXCELLENT ceramics. Their “brown” rods cut like crazy!

I have lived and hunted Colorado hunting big game all my life. One thing that I never understand on Muley buck hunting is the state allows shooting spike and forkhorn bucks. These are juvenile deer without any experience. Give them a year or two and they double in size and grow some impressive headgear. It hurts me to see some amazing forkhorns with great genetics taken out of the gene pool for meat. I guess there is an argument that spikes need taken out. Still, we protect spike elk with 4 point minimums, and elk aren't nearly having the problems the mule deer herds are having. If the issue is herd management, up the doe harvest. I really don't understand this management approach.

I've had to reach out and touch stuff before to fill the freezer. It's nice having the equipment and training to feed the babies. Obviously getting closer is the first choice. But out west that's not always possible. So if the wind isn't horrible and the rest is steady I'm sending it if I feel 100% confident. Smoked my buck in the heart at 750 this year. Only shot I had in three days of hunting. Last hour of the hunt, two river crossings to get closer. Prone off the bipod and a rear bag. 7 mph wind from 1:30. Deer was calm and standing still then he went very still😁 But most of our shots are inside 450. Which is mid range.

Its good for some trick terrain but don't get too used to having your gun always strapped on your back, when possible Carry it ,the last few guys that i know who got chewed up by grizzly bears had their guns strapped to there packs and couldn't get them off on the flurry of the bear attack. I know of two guys that it happened to. one guy ended up jacking a round in and shooting a bear off his buddy while the gun was still strapped to the pack after they both got chewed up pretty bad.

Hey Elk hunting videos aren’t Elk hunting videos without the 10% code thrown in your face for every product used and little bubble pop ups on product description. I’m all about harvesting a cow elk. Still get the enjoyment and beauty of a backcountry hunt . Cost of the tag is a 3rd of the price. Harvest rate goes up, good amount of quality meat and the processing and packing out stays fresh.still can have a badass elk rug!

For the Mora, I have to say I think it would be cool to do a micro bevel on it, but leave some scandi grind at the bottom for woodworking, so it could be a hybrid knife

COMMON SENSE: Most Of us Started out with Buck knifes, or Old Timer, maby Western brand knives. Most American made Knives SUCK, Except high dollar ones. The SWEDES, NORWEGIANS, FINNLANDERS, Had practical knife making figured out, WAY BEFORE US!, Iuse a 70 dollar , KELLAM PUKKO, REAL CARBON STEEL KNIFE, and never looked back. Reasonable Price, hold edge excellent, and SCANDI GRIND Blade geometry edge is amazing!! Case Closed.

I haven’t finished the video yet so forgive me if they touch on this topic but habitat loss is also a huge issue. I live in Chaffee county and the population and new developments has exploded in the last 5 years. Subdivisions have popped up all over the surrounding mountains and mountain bikes and razors are flooding into every trail. This isn’t hunting pressure but it’s definitely pressure and I’ve seen animal behavior change drastically as a result. The idea of a “small mountain town” is an illusion in Colorado these days.

As an eastern private property bow hunter I kinda do the same tactics every year and they work damn near all the time. Well I also been rifle deer/antelope hunting public land in Wyoming and Montana for the last 12ish years . I’ve had 3 tag sandwiches over that time . I’ve looked back on those hunts and it’s always because I never changed my tactics when that day 3 or 4 sets in. It’s like I almost get lazy because I forget I’m not at home hunting that private land. You are right when you say a hunt can change in a second and it seams when I’m successful towards the end of a hunt it’s way more gratifying and just badass. I’m in the middle of planning a Montana Cow Elk hunt for next year in the backcountry. Figured I’d get my feet wet on a cheaper cow elk tag for starters. Your videos are so helpful. Thanks man
