This is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review Cliff! I’ve had one for 18 months or so and have well 100 nights in it. You’ve nailed it in this video why you get a great nights sleep which makes it well worth the cost. The fact that you don’t have the sheets because they are in the wash just shows what a bed like system this is. When was the last time any of us washed our sleeping bags? 😂.

I have a Badger Bag. Bottom line is I love it. Especially, the take the sheets off and wash them. Nothing can ruin a trip faster than being cold and uncomfortable for even one night. Badger Bag no problem!

Thanks for sharing I’ll take a peek. When I’m able I like to add a wool blanket to my sleeping bag. 💼 hate sleeping with synthetics next to my skin
@SammyK45852 ай бұрын
I see they have a wool blanket that they are offering on pre-order. It’s a partnership with Faribault Mill and they are using one of their best wool blankets. We have an old Faribault blanket that we love. I’m going to have to put this in my list.

I imagine a good wide sleeping pad, a ground cloth and a Wiggy's rectangular bag would accomplish the same, but they would be in two smaller stuff sacks. "Under the stars" is great, until you have to deal with the dew.
@CliffGray2 ай бұрын
Yes, you can put together a similar setup from multiple gear providers

@CliffGray I prefer hammocks when possible, but if I had to go to ground or a cot, those new 3+ inch insulated pads are way better than the previous options. That bed roll looks like it could solve everything but the snoring and baked beans in a tent.

Seasonfort expanse does it all and fits inside a backpack.
@wisenber12 күн бұрын
@@obsever97 It does everything but be a sleeping bag and only has a half inch of closed cell foam for a pad and a pack with no hip belt.
@obsever9712 күн бұрын
@@wisenber All of that weighs 7 pounds. Like with every thing else you adapt it as it's needed. With lashing straps you can attach the whole thing to your main pack. How much does your Badger weigh? I would guess close to 50 pounds fully kitted out.

Found you by looking up carnivore backpacking meals, now I'm hooked on all your videos. Are you still carnivore ish? Have you learned any more carni backcountry tips??

Interesting that they use the TR Mondoking. Their new NeoLoft weighs 1/3rd but seems to be that same thickness and comfort.
@MA-hc6mb4 күн бұрын
R Value is significantly higher, half an inch thinner, and it comes in a 30" wide variant. I expect those 3 features will sell it for the right people. Weight is not everything.

If they weren't so dang expensive, I'd give it a go. I see it being useful in a vehicle camp, or if you've pack animals, but if your spike camping it and hoofing it, it's a non starter. In a way it reminds me of two different sleep systems ive tried. One is the USGI modular sleep system. I've been using it for years. Bivy bag is handy for many reasons, then you've two bags you can layer inside the bivy based on how cold it is. It's mummy like, but not a full on constrictive mummy bag. What I like about it, is I just don't give a damn if it gets dirty, starts smelling like smoke, or whatever. I just toss them in the washer once in awhile, and no fuss. Zippers awesome too, no snags, no muss, no fuss. Can toss that bivy over my head too when it's really cold. Now I have tried a bedroll similar to the badger bed, only it was a full on tent, and a lot cheaper. Kodiak Canvas makes what they call the swagman roll, or swag tent. Costs like 300 dollars last i checked. I made a video on it about 4 years ago. it checks a lot of the boxes, but for the way I roll, I found it of limited use and ended up selling it on my local classifieds. I did however get some damn good sleep in it. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqvQfH2LaLKghM0feature=shared )

@@CliffGray When I was in Austraila I came across what Aussie special forces were using... It's made by Seasonfort and model is the Expanse. Deploys out of a backpack and practically does everything. Works well 4 seasons but it expensive.

How much does this weigh? It would be awesome in a Kullkyne swag, take you through some bad weather.
@SammyK45852 ай бұрын
I’ve got a Badger Bed as well and it weighs in ~16-20 pounds depending on what you have in it. It’s too heavy to carry in long distances, but is ideal if you’re using livestock or vehicles for support. Highly recommended!
@CliffGray2 ай бұрын
I agree on this. It is a horse/mule packin hunt or vehicle based hunt setup.

The setup in the video is a lot more than that lol. The mattress alone is almost $300. $400 is about the price of a good 3 season sleeping bag
