My biggest fear is pulling out of a gas station into a congested intersection. Compacted cars, wide turns, or waiting for a clearing.

I’m facing obstacles for my obtaining a trailer , enclosed trailer to build into a camper and to haul a tiny utv . I’m due for sunnier places and having fun . Eight years and only one time of travel is not nice.

It sounds like you have a great plan in mind! Don’t let those obstacles hold you back-every adventure starts with a challenge. Keep pushing forward, and you'll be enjoying those sunnier places in no time!

Man I'm right there. I retire in 3.5 years at 65 and at this moment I'm in excellent health. I've been dreaming of a small camper like one of the tear drops to travel around to quilting and sewing retreats. I have found camping locations near every place I want to go far and wide. My family and friends think I'm a nut bag, as I have never camped, but really I think a smaller camper is more of glamping. I've done loads of research and have now bought a solid tow vehicle (my new truck that can tow 5000 lbs), so that I'll be ready when I retire---God willing. I'm going to RV shows every year learning more and more as the industry and campers change so I'll be ready. I definitely need to "find my people" to give me support LOL. Glad you are getting back to 100% Randi. Thank you for the encouragement. Hugs from NE Ohio.

It sounds like you have everything planned out perfectly for your retirement adventure! The tear drop camper is a great choice for glamping, and it's awesome that you're doing your research. Wishing you all the best on your journey!

Mary and Mark are classic how they sit there while Mary talks and Mark sits there, her with her tussled red hair and Mark in his little mustache. They are like sent from central casting to play the stereotypical retired couple that buys a camper and spends their weekends at the campground. They’ed be perfect as either bit characters or maybe stars of their own show or movie. Someone get the Coen brothers or Wes Anderson on the phone. “I never said anything is cute”-Mark

How long is the camper? Is is 12 feet long, is it 16 feet long?

Not just camping but everything in your life you need to ask yourself , Do I want to? Will I enjoy it? then do it. Life is so short and changes on a dime. I would suggest renting from a trailer business over people renting their gear the companies are organized, insured, should have follow through, 24/7 help available. We had an outdoors rental lined up it was a nightmare when the vehicle wasn't ready and outdoors was no help solving the problem. Lucky my credit card could handle the second last minute rental so our vacation didn't have to be canceled. The large company ( I normal want to support small businesses ) had a cleaned, fueled , vehicle , that was insured and we had online support ( a person ) 24/7 which was great because we drove into a snow storm. I think the hardest part of owning a trailer is maintenance , knowing what, when, how and repairs to same. But I would not give up my trailer for all the frustration of trying to learn

We kind of did things backwards, went and bought an older 24 ft 5th wheel in the fall of 2016 at 64 and 62 then went and got a used 3/4 ton truck to haul it. Wanted to see the US so we took a 10,000 mile trip in the spring of 2017 and a 10,000 mile trip in the spring of 2018 ( both roughly 60 days each). Did use it for a few smaller trips 1500 miles round trip to a wedding, 350 miles to a relative and 120 miles loaned it out for a wedding party. But we no longer trusted it by 2022 and gave it away. Bought a leftover 2022 Little Guy MiniMax in March 2023, and used it in the spring of 2024 on an 11,000 mile trip around the US and Canada of 61 days. Still using the same truck to haul with.

Great video!! Glad your recovering well. I'd suggest picking a destination and putting the trip on your calendar. You need to lock down the time and plan to go. Things will fall into place but if you have not allocated the time it may not happen. We do this now and even more when we try to do a trip with others. It helps insure you are focused and committed to the plan. Take care

You’re right, Randy! I started my journey, 3 yrs ago at 70, during the awful COVID lockdown in Michigan! When I realized how a governor can ignoring our constitution and get away with it, that’s when I realized I had to get the camper I always wanted, but kept putting off! I had been watching Travels with Delaney, as Patrick explained everything you need to know about camping, I knew I wanted to get the same camper he had been teaching us about. If I had discovered your channel, first, I would have purchased a Little Guy Max! I’ve learned so much from you, Randi!! Get out of your comfort zone, people!! Discover an entirely new way of life!!

That's awesome to hear... I love a girl with camping 'spunk' and that you decided to go for it, even during lockdown! As you said, Patrick and Patty from @TravelswithDelany are fantastic for the valuable videos that they provide to us all. I always learn something new when I watch their videos. 😍 Here's to more of us getting out of our comfort zone!!!!

Bravo! I applaud you both ! I’m 73 but widowed, we camped as a young couple starting out. This is so good for the soul. You don’t need to Off Road to enjoy nature! I hope you are both well. Blessings to you both and to your travels!

Ordered from this company. Great customer service. Our 2024 is slightly different measurements of bottom cushion 32" L x 20" W x 4" H and back cushion 32" L x 18" W x 4" H. Randi, you rock and we hope to meet you someday. We are on the backup list for the June gathering in the Black Hills. We are originally from South Dakota and that area is beyond beautiful. Sometimes I work in Hot Springs, SD at Mocassion Springs Hot Springs....therapeutic!

I agree that the biggest limitation we ran into in our 61 day trip with our mini max was the black tank size. We always dumped leaving each campground if available even if I really didn't want to. We also carried a portable tote tank with us but never had to use it.
