Wouldn't vortex generators be useless on a geometry like that. The point of vortex generator is essentially the same as of teardrop shape, which is to keep air attached. So installing VGs on a teardrop vehicle would only increase the drag. Or am I getting this wrong?

I think the balloons could work. However, trying to start from a stall was a bad idea. Maybe if you released the prop first you might have had enough speed to keep her in the air. Also, I like your "never give up" attitude. Just a thought, I've seen some rubber powered planes with more than 1 prop. Big plane needs more power. Good luck

FK the 250 G rule, i for one will NOT comply, government has overstepped its boundaries and bottom line they can go FK themselves. Just be careful if you walk up on an fpv pilot, it just might be me you're walking up too and you won't like the outcome.

It makes sense if the additional tail surface is conductive. It looks like aluminum to me. Foamed materials are susceptible to electrical charges, but electrically conductive surfaces will discharge. Static electricity causes turbulence and increases drag. Toyota puts aluminum tape on the inside of the plastic bumper.😄

I’d like to see someone install a gasoline powered inverter on a Tesla for a true hybrid. With the efficiency of the electrical system on the Tesla and the efficiency of a good inverter, who knows what MPG might be achieved.

what tire size are you running? if its a 205 width I recomend going down to a 185 width and you will see a fuel economy gain, less contact patch = less rolling resistance.

'Down-Under' the Aussie spelling of 't-Y-re' is CORRECT, NOT 'weird' .. only you Yanks seem unable to correctly spell .. ('weird' AMERICAN spelling follows ..) .. 't-i-re' . Mr.Swann, South-West England; (but, although you cannot spell, [quite normal for Yanks ..], your aeroplane, [NOT 'air-plane' ..], is a thing of beauty .. Bloody well-done !)

Going back, see Northrop's "Avion 1" X216-H. Among the best of it's class in all criteria, and markedly faster than any others. Also V.J.Burnelli making lifting fuselage body planes. During the war, the Higgins-Bellanca 39-60 cargo plane, and a similar Boeing 360-362 bomber. Several similar things from the Germans like some tailed Arado 555 versions and Arado 470. A few Horten/Messerschmitt versions with tails or tailfins like the Ho-18 B2. More recently, early 2000s patents by Dizdarevic "Tailed Flying Wings", and the 2016 Lock-Mart hybrid wing-body logistics plane, and the "Frigate Ecojet": multiples of payload and range because they generate substantial lift from the fuselage. The reason the McD blended wing body was never followed through, is because Boeing owns it, and refuses to build to any sort of lifting fuselage design. NASA had to get Cranfield to build the X-48 models because of the intransigent refusal of Boeing to carry it forward. Aerospace is cowardly and if Boeing isn't doing it, no one else will.
