I always though Radiohead sounded like U2. Thom yorke voice is similar to Bono. For all the "experimental" vibe, they had a big Stadium/ U2 vibe underneath.

The bit in Kid A about the rats and children following me out of town is a reference to an old story kids story called the Pied Piper of Hamlin. I think it's German...

The best part is that not a single line in the song Ironic is an actual example of Irony making the song itself ironic. You would say that’s genius except her and the producer Glen Ballard “were not being precious about writing the song”. Really they were not paying attention to those finer details. The irony was lost on both of them. Now it isn’t lost on them but that makes the entire situation in itself ironic. Pretty friggen incredible if you ask me. Quite the punch line. Great review. This album is a 10/10. Yea, watching it performed live was a mind blowing experience.

In a decade’s time and beyond, I can see this becoming a classic. Hell I mean it’s already become a cult classic online, but I can see it becoming one of those albums that later on the mainstream consciousness picks up and realizes is a genuine masterpiece of this era. Maybe I’m biased cause I’ve been a fan since their debut album came out and was anxiously anticipating this record. Even on my first listen the second it dropped I was emotionally devastated and cried to nearly every song, I don’t think an album before or since has had that kind of emotional impact on me

Their albums all tell the same story: of the Demolition Lovers. This is the penultimate one where its all about the grieving process then Danger Days is him moving on.

It's crazy that Mac was 17-18 when he wrote the album. He already had an insane amount of music knowledge accumulated

I think is a huge mistake to box this band as “emo”, many people looked down on them, minimized and mocked them bc of that label when in reality theyre incredibly talented musicians and have a lot to say so thats why they made awesome concept albums, they arent your whiny “my girlfriend left me” kind of band, thats why we see people 20 yrs later shocked as to why they’re so famous, loved and still gaining fans

Lol, I CAN'T STAND this album! Such a disappointment when it came out. How to disappear completely (up your own...). I like to think of In Rainbows as the follow up to OK Computer and tend to erase the intervening three albums from my memory 😀

I find it so odd that almost ALL the good music comes from the UK! There must be something in the water there... like, when you start comparing bands from the UK with everything else, it's just ridiculous. It's always head and shoulders above everything else.

Fun trivia: the Black Parade outfits that MCR wear in music videos and that the band wore on live performances while touring this album were inspired by The Beatles' Sgt. Peppers' Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover if I recall correctly.

I always say that if Mama is the war, Sleep is the PTSD. That part before the final stretch of the album is so heavy, Cancer followed by those two songs, one after the other, it's almost exhausting on a first listen. Absolutely love this album and your reaction. Love MCR since like 2007 too. On another note: when I was a teenager, I wanted to learn how to be a drummer, but for one reason or another, I never did. I'm 30 now. Watching you airdrum Welcome to the Black Parade was vicariously cathartic, a little bit.

I know Gerard's unique voice always gets recognition, but man, there Guitar/Drums were always so impressive to me. The way they merged so many different sounds and rhythm's not even on the album itself, but just individual songs as well that just went through so many different pacing and switches. Will forever be one of my favorite bands of all time.
