Actually, if you'd not mention your scissor-happiness, we would never had guessed. The doll turned out beautifully. Somehow she reminded me of Marilyn before you brushed her curlers back.

Hi @disneybarbiebgirl615, I just wanted to let you know that my "Great Shape Barbie" has arrived today with the mail and lucky the doll is in perfect condition, the hair is fortunately good and especially thick rooted in the head 😃, no weird bald spots and bumps on the head so I am very happy with this copy of the doll, so another great doll to ad at my collection. 🙂

The original crop on 'Weird Barbie' actually looked very 80's to me (... well, not 'stereotypical Barbie' 80's but kinda 'Annie Lennox' 80's! LOL I actually knew quite a few women with short, spiky hair like that back then.) I envy you for having the patience to re-root!! And SO glad you didn't use glue! I've seen it eventually seep through the plugs when it was used, and it gets really gross! And yes, we perfectionists always give ourselves a really hard time. But as you said in your caption, you learn from your mistakes, and trial-and-error is definitely the best way to learn and progress. Though I think she looks super-cute with her new do! ('Joan Rivers!' HA!!!) How about putting it up into a bit of an 80's French twist and fluffing up the bangs a bit?? That would look like she actually has long hair, but it's just been worn up! LOL (You're so gorgeous, BTW!!!)

@@disneybarbiegirl615 you're welcome, I said the same thing about my hula hair Barbie restoration she was found at a thrift store in a bag for $3 and I only wanted the bag for the kissing Barbie dress which was placed on the hula hair Barbie on a broken sun jewel body so I took her to a made to move body gave her a superstar ring and earrings and love her now, it's actually pretty normal for restoration collectors to hate their work but it's a great way to mark your progress for next year,

I remembered this line from when I was 12. My youngest sister was at that age where she was leaving Barbie behind and idk 🤷🏻‍♂️ ig part of me didn’t want her to grow up yet. So in an effort to keep the imagination alive I was like let’s make a Barbie! She was into the idea and so we started looking at current ones and saw the My Favorite line and were SHOCKED by the older dolls that were nothing how we remembered Barbie. But loved them nonetheless and helped us come up with ideas on what we wanted to do. Then came the realization, we’re children we don’t have money. So that went out the window. Now we’re adults with adult money and still love Barbie and doll custom videos. We love the craft and imagination it takes. Decided to bring back an old idea and well… it didn’t go so well that poor doll 😂😂😂 it was a Titan 1967 TNT cuz we love that face. It had a horribly uneven cut, lopsided eye, and swingy arms. We were determined to fix her up only to make the swingy arms worse because it was the reproduction from this line so the arms didn’t come off like the original. Instead they’re connected by plastic through the chest. It was our first time customizing so we did and redid the face up so many times through peroxide and acetone that the head shrunk 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ you can see the stretch marks under the chin. The vinyl stained from the amount of blushing. Now she’s bald with no face, a shrunken head and broken arms in a box under one of our beds. We keep having new ideas but too afraid to try again so now we just enjoy everyone else’s craft. Your dolls have been amazing!

I went to a doll show today. I did get a late 90s early 2000s Barbie and her hair was in a ponytail for who knows how long. I washed her. I conditioned her hair. I did the boil wash. She’s still air drying but the bump is still there. Should I do it again? Also her head keeps falling back a little. I remember you doing the super glue technique.
