Oh, she's a lovely girl, and you did a fantastic job restoring her. She's actually got a sweeter face than Barbie, IMO, but Barbie has that sort of "mean girl" glam that's always popular.
@disneybarbiegirl6152 ай бұрын
Haha yes! Barbie gives me sassy. Mitzi is more subtle glamour.

If people are intimidated by Barbie, then they clearly haven't seen the Japanese vinyl bjd doll market, you can swap out the chest pieces if you want your doll to have a bigger chest, people have nipples painted on, it's very interesting what customisations people get 😅

Canada has a lot less people than the US and this was even more so in 60's. Because of that, a lot of what we bought was ordered through a catalogue... especially in the mid west where there were a lot more small towns. I remember Mitzi being in A LOT of those catalogues. I suspect this is why we have more of them here in Canada. Regarding Barbie's look?... well she was based on Bild Lilly, who was a newspaper comic strip for men before she became a doll gag gift. Bild Lilly WAS a whore so no surprise that some people thought Barbie had that look.

I love that you’re getting a little in your ideal era.. they really are underrated and definitely the Mga of the 60s/70s.. I also love the lore of Tammy and her “daughters” Sindy and Susi who are still alive and kicking. I would also love to know your thoughts on Susi from Estrela

Great work restoring the Misty doll! I personally think she's beautiful and even prettier than the contemporary Barbie!!! Plus she's just a little bigger. Too bad she didn't hang around longer!? But anyway good find GIRL!!🎉🎉🎉😊

Mitzi's hair and makeup are perfect! She's very pretty. Looking at her swimsuit bottoms, it appears that the sides are creased, as if a seam allowance was folded to the inside to make a better fit, especially in the back.

I'd 3D print a new body to go with her lovely head. Not authentic, sure, but it worked great for my Tammy and Pepper heads. That weird, purple, faux flocked velvet looks like off cuts from the Velvet doll dress. Hhhmmmnnn....

Love your videos! My Mum never liked Barbie because she had a Sindy when she was little, so she would only buy me Sindy but in the 90s Sindy looked more like Barbie so it didn’t make any sense… it did eventually get a Beach Blast Barbie though

What an interesting doll! A family friend showed me her maybe number 3 Barbie and now watching this, possibly a Mitzi! She was a Tom boy and never played with them so they were in perfect condition, I remember that bathing suit so I think it was a Mitzi! Thank you for making this, also I think you said miss. Revlon’s hair was the same type, so maybe I will try redoing my miss. Revlon dolls hair. It’s fun to see some older types of dolls! Thanks for making this!

I actually have my original #4 Barbie and my Tammy too. I have never seen a Mitzi. She is very pretty! But yeah her clothes just don't compare. I will keep my eye out for a Mitzi. I love to sew, so sewing for her could be a lot of fun! Thx so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Just wondering, do Mitzi and Tammy have similar hair? My Tammy's hair is pretty wild. I'm thinking of giving her a wash and set with the pipe cleaners. Would that work??

I thought Barbie’s hair was Saran. Do you know what was the fiber used at first for Barbie and approximately when it became Saran fiber ?
@disneybarbiegirl6152 ай бұрын
It came into play first in in the #5 dolls, but only in the bangs. The first dolls were made with a synthetic hair fiber close to mohair. Which to be honest isn’t great for hair play purposes. But ponytail Barbie’s were never meant to be hair play dolls. In a script in one of the first Barbie magazines, children asked why they couldn’t get their Barbie’s hair to look right after they took her hair down, and Mattel said something like “because you aren’t supposed to take Barbie’s hair down from the ponytail”. The bubblecuts are the first to have a full head of saran. And it was carried on to the AG dolls and Twist n Turns
@clivechiam14 күн бұрын
I think that weird ahh choice of swimsuit was a production cost thing? The construction (I use that word loosely) looks so juvenile and like it could be made in minutes.

Mitzi's clothes looked homemade and frumpy compared to Barbie's. The doll itself is pretty cool, but not as cool as Polly Valentine.
