Honestly, I have 0 issue with the age gap. since dragons can actually live way more than just 100, also the fact they slowdown in terms of aging after adulthood. Their Society is different and it's the same one where Anemone was being forced by her mother to marry Whirlpool the second she was going to become an Adult(He would've been Elderly by then) (Rest in piss you won't be missed). Also 15-17 actually is the age of consent for some countries (Since some people actually reach Adulthood much earlier than others, in both physical and mental maturity) so using the argument based off humans is invalid. Firstly, I don’t think Tui owes me anything, it’s her book and her decision. Secondly, you aren’t allowed to say wether someone is allowed to dislike something in any situation, if I dislike it because it’s gay, that is my choice just as it would be for you to enjoy it. If you think that is homophobia, you can hold that opinion just as I can hold mine. And thirdly, if a gay person disliked a straight ship because it’s straight would you call that heterophobia? (Probably not, and would that innit of itself be heterophobia?)

Personally, my favourite Arc is Arc 1. It has a much darker tone than the rest of the series. No other book outside of Arc 1 (with the obvious and major exception of Legends: Darkstalker) has captured the same amount of dark tones, deep themes and gore.

She didn't get rid of animus magic completely, (even if that was her intention) she only made the current animus dragons powerless

I remember reading the series and the only thing that ever stuck out to me was Quibli tease-flirting with Winter every now and again, and Winter's constant "I love her but I hate her" thoughts constantly thrown Moon's way... I was equally just as blindsided when Moon and Quibli ended up together, I hadn't expected it at all. Even now I don't truly believe any of them work other than as fun little teases, but seeing any of them as a genuine relationship really sours the story they told overall. Their dynamics were fun platonic, but was disappointed when they actually made an endgame pair.

Kids are morbidly curious by nature. Wings Of Fire isn’t the first to give off the impression from the book cover that this is just some cutesy clean kid’s book about dragons. Watership Down, Redwall and Guardians Of Gahoole are also guilty of doing this. There’s a sort of art at this point to showcase the harsh realities of life using beloved animals to kids to spook them. I suspect the reason these books pull us in as adults is for the tainted nostalgia of remembering your first encounter with gorey media. In a sense it’s both a kid’s book, and an adult’s book. These books are trying to bluntly communicate “Watch this, children. Be frightened.” Adults have been doing this since the beginning of time. For whatever reason, it’s just really amusing and funny to adults to put on a scary ghost mask and scream BOO to little kids. It’s a game. The adults are trying to lovingly play monster with you. Morbid and a bit mean? Very much so.

LOL im dissapointed that u didn't mention winter- if tui hadn't ruined him by making him side with his toxic family, that is. Darkstalker brainwashed him into worshipping him, killed his aunt, hurt his tribe, etc. He was also a great option, among the many others u mentioned.

I do love all the foreshadowing and references (like in moon rising, I think clay says something about dragons making mistakes that need to be forgiven, and tsunami pauses and then walks away, and moon feels a ripple of guilt, referencing tsunami killing her father)
