I headcanon that animus magic / magic in general originally belonged to humans but the dragons somehow acquired it and due to incompability it has these side effects of turning a animus dragon insane whereas humans would not have that issue or maybe the incompability simply comes from different approaches to using magic and darkstalker may have been onto something ( maybe even the way that humans had used magic originally or at least something of a similar process)

If anything, Thomas & Friends is famously known worldwide in people’s minds to be A ALL Model Production in The Model Series (1984-2007) and not really being imagined in any other Animation Style… well besides Live Action it had been in for years. So that’s why I say that Season 12 in 2008 does deserve some credit at the very least on being a decently good “Transition Season” (Visually) from The Models to CGI Series. Not saying it’s the best Transition Season EVER, but it’s nice to know and see that HIT even bother with a Transition Season than just (idk) jumping straight into A New Reboot that looks like SH*T! with All Engines Go!!

Ah animus magic. I am fascinated with how animus magic have no rules besides bring back the dead. But... its a clear writer's trap. You cant just have a character do whatever they want to do! Their imagination is the only limitation you have for the magic, which is a huge red flag. While i am facinated with seeing a book series using a tool where "a dragon can do whatever it wants", it also showcases why magic have rules in the first place. Many times i think " oh come on, you could have enchanted it to do this instead". Im not suprised Tui eventually banned all animus dragons from using magic. Its such a clear writer's trap lol. I hope it never comes back. Arc 2 had enough animus shenanigans.

I would like to mention that foeslayer had no idea that her mother wanted her to have his dragonets, she hid it from her!

Despite a few good moments and Escaping Peril as a whole, i strongly dislike arc 2. There were just so many problems that i felt the bad outweighed the good. There were just so many... parts in the arc that made me bored. And I keep saying this, but I despise the love triangle the author forced in and i felt it ruined the characters involved. Look, i know people have problems with arc 3, and i won't deny that its not perfect. But i still enjoyed it way more than arc 2. Maybe i should reread the whole series again...

Am i really the only person here who really liked the Overmind reveal??? And how the scorching happened? I didint mind the humans becoming important in this book, i thought it was interesting. And this is coming from a guy who usually hates humans in WoF. Yeah, i felt book 15 was a tad boring, but i absolutely loved the finale. I like to think Freedom was lying at the end about the plant controlling her. She wanted to die.

I hated the love triangle so much that arc 2 remains to be my least favorite arc ever. I hated what the author did to moon and winter, felt like she botched their characters for cheap relationship drama. I dont care about the ships or any of them being together!! I hate this love triangle!!!

Glad to see Darkstalker getting the top rank and with explanations of why! When i first read the book years ago, i couldint put it down. I was enthralled start to end. And just now i finished reading it again after years. I LOVED how Tui wrote these characters and implemented its dark themes in the story. It really made me think about how Darkstalker as a character ticks. He has everything he needs to get what he wants, but his narcissism and arrogance leads to his downfall. I like that you pointed out that while Clearsight and Fathom's characters arcs made them become better dragons, Darkstalker becomes worse. Its a great contrast. Only criticism i have is that i wish the book was longer so we can see the trio's friendship develop more. But thats a minor gripe! Gosh, i hope Tui writes like this again in arc 4!

Im sure most of yall have seen the flash and how barry wants to save his mother from the rf but when he's told he can't without affecting everything he has he does anyway and he realizes that his mother's death was a fixed point aka an unchangeable event so it's unfortunately the same with glorybringer
