I pressure cooked my ribs for 10 mins in my new instant pot and a glass bowl. My ribs were larger pieces and it took 20 mins (the meat coming off the bone easily). After 10 mins they were still very chewy. This time I will try smaller pieces. My mum cooks hers in a stove top steamer... It takes over an hour.

Wow! That looks sooooo delicious ! Thanks for sharing your family recipe. 😍 I used my instant pot only once and it’s been sitting in my basement forever as I felt it was too much work to learn how to use it for an every day meal. But your videos have taught me well and really motivated me to add the instant pot as my useful kitchen gadget!! 😎

Hi Angela. Do you turn the pork over for the 2nd basting? And do you broil for 5 more minutes after the 2nd basting or just remove from the Instant Pot? Thank you.

Why not put the meatballs in first. Why you didn't add any spices.

"Mindful Mom" uses your method. Noodles in broth, then meatballs, then sauce. She says 5, but I did 6 'cos of frozen meatballs. Fingers crossed.

Angela, thank you for the quick reply. Bobby sent the question for me as I was prepping the pork. Your method of pressure cooking and broiling with IP Duo lid is now officially our go-to way of making the char siu. The pork was amazing: fork-tender and so tasty. It was unanimously given 5 stars. And the marinade, juices and water at the bottom of the pot were used for dipping as you suggested - delicious! Irene

Thank you for this absolutely delicious recipe. I just made a pot of it, I added a potato to give it a little bit of body because I didn't use cream or cheese. I've also been making hummus so saved cooking water from the garbanzo bean to use as stock.... yummy 😋 I just found your channel and have watched about 7 of your videos, love so many of your recipes. I am looking forward to seeing more! ⚘

So the stuff that makes bbq pork red has nothing to do with the flavor?🧐
@InstantPotLife2 жыл бұрын
Correct. You can add some red bean curd to make it red. It’s a fermented bean curd that you can find at any Asian grocery store. I prefer without though.

Why use rock sugar instead of normal granulated sugar? Does it change the taste? I'm tempted to try this with regular sugar since I have it and I've never bought this other kind.
@InstantPotLife2 жыл бұрын
You can use granulated sugar as well. Rock sugar is a little less sweet, but both works.

This looks really good. Am wondering, if u like the taro finer, could we chop that up more? And instead of pork belly, could we use char siu but just add bit more cooking oil? Thx for this. Looking fwd to trying👍💐
@InstantPotLife2 жыл бұрын
Can definitely cut up the taro finer or even grate it. The pork belly and char siu are quite different so I would say it’s not a substitute but you can always try it anyways. Enjoy!

Very well done. I LOVE sweet/sour spare ribs. But I cook it on the stove. You did not mention, but I will. Cooking on the stove is more expensive, takes longer, and that means more cost. I have to cut on electricity, so this is the reason I've waited for. . . less cost, and sweet/sour spare ribs in under 15 minutes. May be the rice will actually be done at the same time.😎😎

This looks tasty. Can you share if you have any experience using the pre-made Char Sui sauce from store would that change any timings or adjustments that needs to be done on this recipe. Thanks

Keep the timing the same but use the pre made sauce to marinate the meat. I would still baste with honey at the end too.

I'll never get this hard boiled egg thing right, the egg always stick to the shell.
@InstantPotLife2 жыл бұрын
Aww. Maybe your eggs are too fresh? The ice bath at the end should help.
@keahi76462 жыл бұрын
An easy way is to boil eggs for 7 minutes, no more. Then the ice water bath for 4-5 minutes. The egg shrinks away from the egg wall, making it very easy to shed the shells, sometimes I peal under water (bowl) or running faucet.
