The longest movie is 991 Hour

It's bad enough when it's done with movie reviews. It's worse when it's done with politicians, which it is all the time.

One of my favorite shades, they look good in everything from casual to formal. I also specifically like what a lot of people hate about these sunglasses, that very steep pantoscopic tilt. It fills my eye sockets nicely, coming close but not actually touching my cheeks. There is very little gap space at the top or bottom.

It should be mentioned that this was meant to be watched in three separate sittings: 1-2, 3, and 4-6. The first sitting (which is the shortest, at around 3 1/2 hours) has one intermission, with the following sittings having two intermissions each. Basically, the director understands that taking a break is necessary in something this long. Whereas *some* long cinema auteurs seem to only have a desire to test their audience's patience, Llinas is out to entertain. This isn't a torture session: It's a legitimately fun set of stories that are all quite good at what they're doing. I'm not sure this has any point being "a movie" as it is really just an anthology of different tales that are only loosely connected thematically, but hey, the "longest movie" thing is something they can advertise. I also want to mention the director walking in during episode 3... I was pissed. The movie is really getting good, the action is picking up, and then the movie stops - with a random cut to a stop sign, no less - and the director proceeds to tell us that no, this isn't the intermission, don't get up... and then he tells us that we're going to get flashbacks and backstories for several characters and gives a preview of what to expect. Which is just stupid, an attempt to pad out that running time, there is *no need to stop the momentum of the movie to do this.* And then he looks at his watch and tells us that we have three and a half hours to go until the episode is over and gives us the biggest grin, and I laughed my ass off. I've never booed a screen before, but I gave him the biggest boo I could muster in between laughs. xD It wasn't until my second viewing that I realized his notebook he's excitedly showing off is drawn primarily in crayon. It's such a humorous detail that tips us to the movie not taking itself entirely seriously, allowing the audience to just have fun with it. That little moment encapsulates a whole lot of what I love about this movie: It's just FUN. This is Llinas and the cast and crew making these truly original stories - a low budget horror tribute, a Rashomon-esque musical, a gigantic spy epic, a meta-comedy riff on The Saragossa Manuscript, an experimental silent, and a movie filmed entirely with a camera obscura - and testing what they can do while still keeping an audience engaged and entertained. This is arguably my favorite movie because each of the tales creates a world that feels truly fantastical and different from anything else I've encountered. And taken together, they create an experience that no other movie has ever reached. Edit: Have you watched Llinas's Extraordinary Stories? 4 hours long, and also one of my favorite movies ever. It's a mystery film made up of three sections: it has the gimmick of constantly getting lost in side stories and detours that are more interesting than the "main plot" of each tale. The characters may be wrapped up in their core stories, but by drifting off to outside perspectives we get a whole world of different characters who are every bit as intriguing as the core mystery plot lines. Indeed, that's kind of the message of the movie: that letting go of your "main character" view of life and learning about others will make your own life richer because of that knowledge.

At my cinema we started a monthly night called 'Cinema Fiasco'. Featuring obscure and not so obscure films that were considered hopelessly lost causes, but brought to life by live commentary by our two hosts, film fans who relish watching the downtrodden, forgotten trashy gems from the past.

Reviews can be deceiving, even if not trying to be. Remember for example in Ed Wood - the play he was in got a dreadfully bad review - but one of the comments was that the costumes were good. Wood exclaims: "That's Positive!". Along those lines a reviewer, M. Jokerbooby might write 'The biggest piece of trash in the history of Hollywood but the opening title music was brilliant' On the poster appears "Brilliant" M. Jokerbooby. (wrote this before watching the video - and you covered it well)

The fact that this movie has eggtually never been made is just uneggscusable! I would have eggspected that Hollywood would reggnognise a great Filmmaker when they see one. This is just a big diseggpointement. :(

Personally I don’t pay attention to film reviews as I would rather watch a film and be able to come up with my own opinion on whether a film is good or bad.

Funny you talked about the layers and having two things. Well, your video actually has three things going on. The third thing is the music playing while you are talking. It is actually distracting to what you are telling us. Yes, I love the movie and have seen it multiple times (though not to do the analysis you have done here). The point I am making is that the music is completely unnecessary to your points. As I have asked other hosts that play music while they are talking to us, I ask that you not do it all as well. These early films are some of the most interesting in film history, they show how life was 100+ years ago, all of these people have died and most buildings from that period have since been demolished or redesigned so many times they no longer resemble their original designs (Times Square in New York, for example). That is the main reason I like these films, they preserve history. These things happened and the people in the films were real and led a life as we do.

OMG AD/BC! I think you may well be the second channel to cover it after mine! I definitely recommend Garth Marenghi's Dark Place if you haven't seen it. It has the same director and it's also a show that's made to look bad on purpose. The only other one I've seen here is McFarland USA. It was one of those times where it was on TV in the background whilst I was doing something else and I ended up getting really engaged halfway through. If you want an obscure film recommendation, then I recommend Bunny and the Bull. It's an indie buddy comedy from the director of Wonka, Paddington and the Mighty Boosh and it's really creative in terms of production design. Great video as always!
