What I don't like about Novablast 5 are, the outer sole, toe box and the mid sole ffblast Max is too soft. This cushion won't last. Novablast 4 has a balanced combination, durability and cushion.
@jasonjogs16 сағат бұрын
The 4's were pretty great and hard to beat. I will say that my 4's have not been holding up the best but that could be due to me being on the heavier side.

New Balance is changing the composition and feel of the Fresh Foam X through its line. The 880s is the firmer Fresh Foam X, the 1080s is the mushy Fresh Foam X for runners, and the Mores is the max stack . And I heard that New Balance wants the Mores to target the walk to run athletes too. They definitely look similar but will all feel different.
@jasonjogs16 сағат бұрын
I feel that. I wish they would use a different name for the midsole on the 880's so that consumers won't get confused. They all definitely have their own audiences but from a consumer's perspective looking at the design and specs, they all look fairly similar imo. Thanks for the comment David!
@davidmcquade474316 сағат бұрын
@@jasonjogs I agree that it is confusing. I know some people were disappointed that the 880 v14 was so firm. They expected the 1080 fresh foam softness in a smaller stacked shoe.

I’m 6’1 215lbs and I wasn’t thrilled with the 1080. I prefer the more v5 and if speed is the goal I’ll use the sc elites or superblasts. Not sure how much I’ll run in these - only 1 run so far so might grow on me?
@jasonjogs16 сағат бұрын
I can definitely relate to that (great options btw). The 1080's for me were just ok, I think that they're overpriced for what they're offering. $140 would've been a better price point for this shoe imo. They didn't grow too much on me the more miles i put onto the shoe as I found the midsole to bottom out on faster paced runs/long runs.

Jason, are you heel striker? Some shoetubers saying the plate is so hard on their forefoot.

I’m a heel striker/mid-foot striker. The plate on the zoom fly 6 is a little more forgiving than some of the other supertrainers/supershoes i’ve tested but i did feel the forefoot was on the firmer side (with zoomx and plate combined). with that being said, i enjoyed that as it felt more responsive and easier to run quickly.

I've been running with the Pegasus since the 31st. I even ran a full marathon in the Peg 32. My last Peg was the 40th. And, its true, I've been heavily influenced by all the negativity the 41st received, so it came as a surprise to me that 3 of the shoetubers I follow swear by it and even squeezed it in their best of the year list. So, now, coming from your top 5, I've totally reconsidered and will grab the Peg 41 in the Eliud Kipchoge colorway. Thanks!

Hey Jason, that's a well-balanced toplist and a superb rotation. I almost have the same types of favorites, but not everyone is a 2024 model. If I had to choose only 5, my picks would be: 5. Asics Nimbus 25 4. Asics Superblast 2 3. Brooks Hyperion 1 2. Nike Pegasus 41 1. Brooks Launch 9/10 I chose these, because they separate a bit from each other. Each of these works perfectly fine for a certain type of running. I'm mostly interested in lightweight trainers without a plate and a great ground feel in the forefoot. The Asics range is my choice for higher stacked shoes I use for easy, recovery and longer runs. I also have the Asics Cumulus 25 and the Novablast 3 LE, both are perfect daily trainers, I just like the Pegasus and the Launch a bit more due to the lower stack. I'm also enjoying the old Brooks Hyperion Tempo from 2022, it's amazing for speed work due to its low weight. Next year I'll add the Adidas Adios 9 to my lightweight shoes. It sounds promising, but unfortunately I haven't been able to buy it yet. Have a great start into 2025! 🎉🌠🥂

I had the Asics Novablast 5 and it gave me vibes of wearing the NB 1080 v13's. I felt the NB 1080 v13's were too soft and unstable, so I sold them on eBay. Recently got the NB 1080 v14's, wore and ran with them side by side with the Novablast 5's and I actually preferred the 1080 v14's over the Asics Novablast 5's, which actually surprised me. So, I returned the Novablast 5's to Asics, but am definitely keeping the NB 1080 v14's.

wat makes u like 1080v14 so much? i use 1080v13 atm but wondering if i should buy discounted 13's or just get 14 when my pair starts to deteriorate
@Decisions4u3 күн бұрын
@ not as laterally unstable as v13, but still soft ride. Also, has more of a front rocker feel than the v13’s. I can wear this shoe all day (14 hours) get a workout or short run in and at the end of day my feet are not sore and do not hurt. The NB 1080 v14 would be my shoe I would pick to wear at Disney World, and I would pick it over my Asics Gel Nimbus 26, which would be my second choice Disney World shoe to wear.
@Decisions4u3 күн бұрын
@ the v13’s are super comfortable but it lacked lateral stability for me. Stand up straight and roll your foot side to side in them, they feel like they want to roll over too easily.
@io-rj6sk3 күн бұрын
@@Decisions4u yea my ankle was niggling when i just started running in 13s. but since im used to it now its all good interesting u say that theres more of a forward rocker now in the v14's, first time i heard sum1 say that coz i just thought it was a midsole change u still feel like recovery runs r just as good in the v14s even tho a bit less soft?
@Decisions4u3 күн бұрын
@ midsole feels a bit firmer but still soft, not a big rocker feeling but more than v13’s. I am 190 lbs, only do short 1-3 mile runs, but also do HIIT type workouts more often. Run 2x week and HIIT workouts 3x week. The shoe I put on at 7:30am I wear all day including a workout or run and take off about 9:30pm. I didn’t think I’d like the v14’s as much as I do. I am not surprised Jason picked the Nike Zoom Fly 6 as his #1 (am surprised by his #2 pick the Pegasus 41) the Zoomfly 6 has a great springy feel.
@Decisions4u3 күн бұрын
Thank you for the overview of these shoes, appreciate hearing about them. The Pegasus 41 is a surprise, you did not experience too much forefoot ground feel with them, especially weighing 200 lbs? I had the Pegasus 40's, and felt that shoe was a total dud...had too high of a heel to toe drop with too minimal forefoot cushion....I weigh about 190 lbs.
@jasonjogs2 күн бұрын
I appreciate the support! I only started feeling too much ground feel in the forefoot for runs over the 14-16 mile range. The pegasus 40’s on the other hand…. i started feeling the ground too much after mile 7-8 🤣
@Decisions4u2 күн бұрын
@ if you tried the Vomero 17, did you have less forefoot ground feel in the Vomero 17 vs the Peg 41?
@Decisions4u2 күн бұрын
@ I am debating buying the Pegasus 41 or the Vomero 17 but fear too much forefoot ground feel in both. I weigh 191 lbs
@jasonjogs2 күн бұрын
I’ve only tried on the Vomero 17 but did feel the ground quite a bit when walking. If i had to guess, the 41s may be a better option because at least there is a zoom air unit in between you and the ground which adds a little more “umph” vs zoomx foam that just compresses completely (for me). If you want to avoid the ground feel in both models, I’d highly recommend the Novablast 5 or More v5 :)

Would not take these for walking, but they're good for daily trainer and easy runs. While the fun, plush, compliant, bouncyness ride of this shoe is good for running; imo it wouldn't be good for walking. Not stable enough and I feel my legs slightly wobbling looking for stability when walking, especially on non-pancake flat surfaces. I would prefer a more stable and firmer/denser, but still cushioned, feeling of a shoe for walking than the NB5.
