Hi can you explain how to built your portfolio for IMT? Did you have prior experience in it?
@neuronautilid

It’s not true that the total application score includes the portfolio score. It’s also not the case for this year that the communication score is based on the whole interview, it’s based on only on the clinical station.

Thank you for the video doctor. But this year the format has changed. The interview score is the sole decider of the rank and ergo the offers received, your application score has no relevance to the final score.

Hello. Can you please tell me if these two sources would be enough? Some people say the emergencies section from the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine should also be done.Given the time constraints, I don't think I can do that. Additionally, should we do the whole of the ICS books questions? It's quite extensive.

Thanks Kahkashan, Can you please clarify the interview timings? You said it is 60 minutes but then at 5:40 it said 2-9 minutes. Is that for each of the 5 sections in that list? And are their specific or guideline timings for each section?

My bad. The total duration of the interview is 30 minutes, so 2-8 mins each. As candidates we just have to finish intro within 2mins. For the rest of the interview, they take care of the timing.

Hi doctor Could you please make a video on Pathway for surgical training in the UK after clearing PLAB
@MumtazKeh
@MumtazKeh 12 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment! Yes, the journey to surgical training in the UK is quite structured-starting with passing the PLAB exams, building a strong CV, passing the MRCS exams, and then applying for surgical training through Oriel, followed by interviews. I’m planning to create a discussion video with some of my surgical training friends to dive deeper into each of these steps. We’ll share personal experiences, tips, and advice to help guide candidates through this process. Stay tuned for the video, and feel free to let us know any specific questions or topics you’d like us to cover!

Romania 6 year's MBBS study than uk job in doctor?
@MumtazKeh
@MumtazKeh 2 ай бұрын
Well I graduated from India so it wasn’t that long. But if you’re studying in Romania, here are some pros and cons to consider: Pros 1. **EU-Accredited Education**: Romanian medical degrees are generally recognized across Europe, and many graduates successfully register with the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC). 2. **Affordable Tuition and Living Costs**: Romania is often more affordable for international students compared to the UK, which can make it financially easier. 3. **Quality of Education**: Many Romanian medical universities provide a solid education with good facilities and experienced faculty, especially in cities like Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. 4. **Easier Admission Process**: Admission into Romanian medical schools can sometimes be less competitive compared to the UK. 5. **Pathway to GMC Registration**: Upon graduation, Romanian MBBS graduates can apply for GMC registration, especially as the PLAB exams may not be required due to EU-recognized degrees (though this could vary based on GMC rules at the time). Cons 1. **Language and Cultural Barriers**: While courses are often in English, there may be challenges with learning Romanian for clinical rotations and day-to-day interactions with patients. 2. **GMC Registration Process**: Although Romanian degrees are often recognized, GMC requirements can change, so it’s important to keep updated on any changes to the GMC’s policies regarding qualifications from Romanian universities. 3. **Competitive Job Market**: IMGs from EU countries still face a competitive job market in the UK, with IMT and specialty training placements being quite competitive. 4. **Adjustment to UK Medical System**: The UK has a unique healthcare system and clinical protocols, so there might be a learning curve in adjusting from Romania to the UK system. Final Thoughts If you’re focused on getting to the UK and are open to a longer route, this can be a good option. Just keep in mind that it will involve a lot of self-preparation, and staying updated on GMC and NHS requirements will be crucial.

Hi, doctor! Do we need the police verification when we apply for the CA, or when we’re about to start? I’ve heard it only has a validity of 3 months?
@MumtazKeh
@MumtazKeh 2 ай бұрын
Hi Your PVC/PCC should be valid for the period of your attachment. You would definitely require it when you apply for the visa but you need to submit it to the hospital before you’re about to start. Some hospital do ask for it well in advance. As far as I remember, a PCC is valid for 6 months.

Hey Dr First of all congratulations to you for getting into IMT 🎉 I am looking to directly get into a training job. I have my CREST form joined and other than QIP, I guess I have some score in each sections. What score would be required in IMT 2025 ….as I see there was a score of around 16-18 for shortlisting in IMT 2024…can you reveal how much was your score….just to get an idea for me bcoz if I am not wrong ur profile that u have entered for shortlisting is before you have started the non-training job ….so I am guessing that whatever you have done in your non-training didn’t help in getting into IMT. Can you p,ease guide me through this… and also for teaching if our senior didn’t accept to give me the “teaching observation form signed or letter of recognition” is there any other way around to work through this?

I have talked about my score and the recent changes in IMT2025 applications in this video: PORTFOLIO SCORING FOR IMT APPLICATIONS 2025 kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGSloKirqK53rMk While most of my score was based on the activities I presented working in India, I think the new job gave me two very important things: 1) CREST form 2) Much needed NHS experience : got to understand the system and the expectations it has with its IMTs.

If you are talking about non-training interviews, there's no harm in mentioning it in your CV. However, I don't think they consider it a research unless and until that is in press/ published. If you're applying for training jobs straight away, mention only the research papers that are published/ in press. Good luck!
