I hear people saying they’re biased cause they “Stan” Ashton. I didn’t, and still don’t *like* Ashton as a character in this campaign. I find him boring and Talesein RP’ing real hard as a low charisma character doesn’t help. But I’m 100% in the “Ashton followed the bread crumbs the DM left before him to take the stone” / “Ashton was robbed for taking the chance” / “the group was wildly hypocritical and way too hard on him” camp. The two biggest whiplashes for me this arc were, “let’s give it to fearne” and “10 turns of constitution saving throws”.

I've played a battle master fighter for a year now. The first time I did a goading attack my wife looks at me dead pan and says "do you say goating?" My kid then brays like a goat. We then giggle for rest of the session. Now each and every time I use goading attack some eventually makes a goat sound 🐐

They're changing from D&D to Daggerheart which will be a completely different world with different creatures, etc. So no chance for a past character to make a cameo. The only way we're going to see those past characters will be through comics, animation, video games, etc. At least that's how I see it. But I do wonder if all the players will be back for campaign 4. It'll be kinda sad if half the players leave and we see new faces as the main cast. A few poinst: Assuming all of the gods become mortal and exit their godhood before Predathos awakens; he probably will go looking for food as there is none nearby, but he won't have to take Imogen, off of the Moon he's no longer improsined by the divine gate so he can leave her body and assume his own form. Second, having mortal followers is what sustains the Gods of exandria; if the gods don't want to play ball they seal Predathogen inside Ruidis, then killing all mortals (because they know what happened and could try this bridge thing again now that they have the idea) and starting fresh; but they would have to re-seed life (as they need worshippers) and Predathos will make more Ruidis-born and this would be a never-ending cycle. Maybe the gods are fine with that but it is in itself a kind of prison for them; they can't have anything permanent and lasting of their own because Predathos will always corrupt it to the point of needing a reset. So they don't really have a choice; they can give up being worshipped and become mortal now or they can start this cycle over again, or they can run. Those are their choices. That combined with what the Raven Queen did, how some of them feel about what happened in both Calamity and Downfall, I think most of the gods wll opt to become mortal. There may be a struggle with a few who don't want that option, and perhaps that's part of the combat and why the finale is so long. I think Ludinus would even see the solution of gods becomming mortal as a kind of win, it accomplishes the freedom he claims at least to want.

I think calamity was a flash in the pan. A one time master class in great storytelling. It was short, sweet, and to the point yet left a mark on the community. There will be few stories out there that will invoke such emotion and even fewer still that will be able to land the conclusion in such a satisfying manner. I can’t compare any other story to calamity because it is just comparing an apple to a potato. Downfall did not even come close and that was attempted to be a similar design.

I still hope they tell the Schreiber story in the Mighty Nein series...
