I've had to do this 3 times in the past month for reasons i don't want to say. I have mastered this job and have found the best method. If you push the new ball joint into the bottom of the knuckle and make sure the metal dowel pins sit into the knuckle then start the 2 17mm bolts then grab the whole spindle and knuckle assembly and sit that onto the lower control arm, you don't have to mess around and try to align the heavy knuckle onto the 2 dowel pins

I'm on the hunt..I have a 01 is300 I can hear kind of a poping or clunking when I turn.. I haven't jacked it up yet I think its the ball joint or something like that. What's odd when I turn it fast hard left or right it sound s like a grinding. Kinda like the rotor is rubbing on the brake pad.. Thanks for the good edit straight to the fucking point.

These ball joints are known to fail out of no where. I’d replace them if you haven’t and the car has a fair amount of mileage.

This is great videos. Usually what is the price for parts and labor done for left and right front sides? Firestone charges $1000.

Shop rates these days are outrageous. That sounds about right in today’s market. I would probably charge around $500

Why does no one ever use the easiest tool for this job? That’s the pitman arm puller.
@HelpingHandAutoRepair3 ай бұрын
Because we aren’t working on a Pittman arm but rather a lower ball joint. Pittman arms work great in some case but a ball joint removal tool works great too. They are both very easy to use. Pittman arms don’t always fit in every situation and sometimes aren’t big enough openings or sometimes too big.

I hit a speed bump the other night and now I have a squeak/scrub coming from the passenger side when there is a change in suspension. Could that be a ball joint or the control arm?
@HelpingHandAutoRepair4 ай бұрын
No clue. You need to Jack it up and look at the car.

@@HelpingHandAutoRepair Oo ok what about swapping the coilovers to other coils ?
@HelpingHandAutoRepair9 ай бұрын
Sorry just saw this. If you lower the car you will mess with the camber as well. If your coilovers come with camber plates, you can take the car in and have an alignment done to correct it. Not sure if you are into modifying your Lexus but if you are, check out my other channel that’s in the link in the description.

Shouldn’t be loose. Unless they weren’t installed correctly.
