I wasn't heavily invested in 9mm at the time, (covid and all the BS that came with it), so i was fine with swapping calibers. I love the shield platform so it was a no brainer for me. got the shield 30 super carry for 250 after taxes and 1300 rounds of various 30 SC. It's a great EDC. Still have a gen 1 sheild in 9. I'll practice with both, but carry the 30 SC. I know the 30 SC ammunition is more expensive, but 17 rounds in such a small package? yep, i'll take it.

The 1911 is too large and heavy for most people to realistically conceal-carry. It does make a great home-defense pistol, if you don't mind the grip safety (which I don't understand why it is there, since the gun has a thumb safety).

It's a beautiful, historical, expensive piece of mechanical art with a peerless trigger, but for daily carry a $300 Taurus GX4 has it beat for size, weight, and cost effectiveness. The real reason to carry the 1911 (or a 2011) is the warm glow in your soul, if it gives you that then that's a thing. Fair enough. Otherwise you might as well get drastic with a plastic fantastic.

I don't think this caliber is going to set the world on fire. The problems are price and availability. I hardly ever see this round at retailers, and when I do, it costs $10 more per box than 9mm. The fact is; when a round is in low demand, it costs more, and retailers are loathe to make room for it on their shelves because it doesnt move. I think the fact that S&W is currently blowing the Shield Plus in 30SC out the door for $250 is telling of the round's longevity.
