I saw Spaceballs when I was 4 years old, and Star Wars when I was 12 years old. I thought Spaceballs was the actual Star Wars movie for so many years.

I agree that The Producers is Brooks best. Interesting that Hamill didn’t say if he liked Spaceballs or not. George Lucas loved it and even helped Brooks with some special effects.

"It's making fun of something that was pretty funny in the first place. He's better at making fun of something that's deadly serious." This is exactly what I think of the Scary Movie movies. Scream was already a satire of the genre, so you're making a farce of a satire, rather than the original source. There was still funny stuff there, but it's somewhat of a flawed concept.

0:44 Young Frankenstein will always be my favorite Mel Brooks movie. Brooks also took a turn from comedy and co-produced David Lynch's The Elephant Man, alongside his assistant director from High Anxiety, Jonathan Sanger.
