There are dozens of makers of tactical gear, including plate carriers. Those listed here are lesser know options. Nothing wrong with that, but keep in mind that your body armor is meant to save your life, do your due diligence when considering a purchase.

To me if you start using 12rd mags it makes the grip print more which takes away the whole reason for carrying them to begin with and you might as well stay with a compact 9mm.

This comes from USSR military doctrine. Unlike the US they didn't have humongous budgets to burn so all their gear had to be affordable to produce and long lasting enough. That way they could compete with countries that could have several times their GDP

Apparently whoever's doing this video doesn't seem to understand that when a bullet is moving faster and it disrupts its shape it tends to penetrate less. And we have known for several decades now that an 8 to 12 inch penetration with a bullet that opens up and does a lot of permanent wound cavity damage is more than capable of getting the job done nearly every single time. At least the 357 enjoys that first shot stock rate several points higher than any other cartridge that exists right now. And those statistics come from actual shootings, not jello. Cuz I've never been attacked nor do I ever propose to be attacked by a bowl of jello

I've been teaching shooting for 54 years now. At the day that I asked the FBI were their opinion is, is the day that I have become dumb as a box of rocks because that isn't their job. The reason they went with 9 mm is because it's cheaper, the other reason is because it's cheaper, and the third reason is because it's cheaper. They do not want to spend time trying to teach people how to shoot better calibers. They just load up a lot of ammo into one gun because you're going to need every single round
@44hawk28
@44hawk28 Күн бұрын
The number one critical performance factor in pistol rounds when trying to protect yourself from other humans is maximum permanent wound cavity. That's it. The 357 magnum, the 357 sig, the 38 Super, the 9x 23, and an extremely hot 9 mm with 124 grain hollow point that generally doesn't get more than 1300 ft per second are all capable. So is the 40 Smith with about 165 grain hollow point running out at about 1200, 45 ACP with 185 to 200 grain + p Hollow point, can generally be loaded up to about 1100 ft per second. Add 40 Smith and 45 ACP will produce about a 30% larger permanent wound cavity than the best 9mm. But all of the other 357 and long 9mm loads that I mentioned are capable of shooting hollow point 125 grain at 1400 +
@44hawk28
@44hawk28 Күн бұрын
That doesn't make any sense, the 357 Magnum is always to be shot out of a little bit larger and heavier Firearms. That way you don't have all the park out of a smaller and lighter gun in 38 Special actually recoils more than many 357 magnums

Since the mid-1970s when the 125 grain hollow point came out running around 1400 feet per second plus out of a 4 inch 357 Magnum it has been the best first shot fight stopper on the planet to this day. I've been teaching shootings since 1970. And I carried one up until 2007 when I finally moved to a 40 smith. But I still carry a 4-inch 357 on a regular basis. It still holds the record for first shot stops especially when you consider that record is held while many people who are shooting at are not necessarily trained shooters. The only one that ever came close was a 9 mm plus loan that the Illinois State Police carried in the 1980s for a short time. And that was with every one of them were trained Shooters and it still didn't equal the 357 Magnum. Even in a snub nose, a 357 Magnum will put out 50% more energy than the best 38 Special then the best 38 Special out of the same firearm. So it is a spiced up 38 special. That's exactly why it was made that way so that you don't blow up your 38 special with the original 38 treasury load which will blow up a lot of 38 specials in the early 1930s. I didn't have a problem emptying mine in the span of Less Than 3 seconds into nearly the same hole on the gun range. And a 4-inch group, with the right load, at 100 yds was icing on the cake the load that I personally made up was 125 grain Sierra hollow point. With 21 1/2 grains of h110 and it clocked 1500 ft per second out of my 4-in Ruger. It would hold about a 6 and 1/2 inch Group at 100 yd. But I also would carry a 140 grain CCI Lawman ammo that clocked out about 14 1/4 that would hold a 4-inch Group at 100 yd shooting double action. Highly practice with my 38 snub at 50 yards and it was still shooting a 4-inch group at that distance. You just have to know how to hold the gun still as you shoot it
