I think you should start first with a niche and after getting audiences you can be creative too it will be hard for you to grow by being just creative idk just an opinion

Thanks for watching! I understand that and it all depends on what you're using KZbin for and what kind of person you are. For business, definitely niche down. If it's purely for creative expression, then mixing it up is important for longevity. Also, the "niche" could be your specific style instead of a specific topic.

@chris_tarroza
@chris_tarroza 26 күн бұрын
Could be something in your OBS settings. Resolution and, more importantly, your video bitrate is what controls the video quality. Make sure your resolution is at least 1920x1080 (4K if your computer can handle it). And my bitrate is set to 20000 Kbps. Fair warning, that's probably overkill. Run some quick tests, start with 10000 kbps and stop when you're happy with the quality.

@cinemasammy I was considering the a6700, it's a great camera. It's very similar to the FX30 and actually has some features the FX30 doesn't. I know it seems silly but overheating was a huge concern so I went FX30.

I am sure the microphones are good enough but the way you used them not. So, why bother talking about microphones while the problem is not the microphone but the treatment of your room?
@chris_tarroza
@chris_tarroza Ай бұрын
You're actually completely right. If anything this video shows that room treatment matters quite a bit. Also, that using a shotgun mic is also a bad idea in an untreated room.

I've been researching this topic for a whole day. I don't have time for this bs. I'm no closer to knowing what I actually need. It's no wonder so many of these channels exist. If you had a hobby you wanted to share with people before making videos, by the time you're set up you'll forget why you even started learning.
@chris_tarroza

I get being paralyzed by the many options. The point was to hear if these mics are good enough for what you need. Unless you're working on bigger productions, one of these mics is more than enough to get started.
@chris_tarroza
@chris_tarroza Ай бұрын
A few things I learned after creating this video: 1) Mic placement matters a lot. You can get a completely different sound depending on where the mic is. For example, the Comica VM30 handheld sounds a lot better vs. it mounted on top of my camera. It was too far and my room sounds terrible. 2) Room treatment goes a looooong way. The room where most of this video was filmed was not treated and I had to use a lot of noise reduction to limit the reverb. Tbh, i'm not entirely happy with how some parts sound even with all the post-processing 3) I still hate seeing mics visible on screen. It's just...irksome. 🤮 Leave a comment on which mic you think sounded best!

Excellent work here! I really appreciate the way you covered the bare essentials, reminding people that you don't really need a whole lot of gear other than a computer and headphones. I spent a few thousand on studio gear in the late 90s and had a pretty sweet setup. When most of it, particularly my 4-track mini disc recorder, became obsolete, I just quit doing it for years. While in grad school around 2015, I was writing film and musical poetry compositions with beats I created in iMovie using only a pair of iPhone headphones and the stock mic on the 2012 iMac. I knew that building a studio had very much changed since I was recording music from 96' to 2000, but I just felt overwhelmed by all of the information, which made me disinterested in even trying to figure it out. I made the audio tracks and beats for my films and poetry with my computer's keyboard, used the cheap mic on the iMac monitor, and some cheap earbuds to monitor the sound. I just ordered the Akai MPK Mini Plus and it's time to get an audio interface. That way I can use my AKG C1000s, SM58, and SM57 again. Mostly, I appreciate your straight-forward approach. I just want to make film and music, not be lectured by an audio engineer who unnecessary makes things too technical for people with no interest in being sound engineers.

Thank you, I really appreciate that! I'm transitioning my niche to video production and overall creative mindset. I was debating taking all my music-related content down but, with comments like this, I'm glad I didn't. All the best.
