I purchased the long decay for my Crate GX2200H and I have to raise the reverb knob to 10 just to barely even hear it. Could this possibly be a result of a defective tank?

Wiring speakers doesn’t change the wattage though eh? I can’t wire 4 25 watt 4 ohms, and have one 100 watt 16 ohm speaker?
@amplifiedparts26 күн бұрын
You can. No wattage really "changes", but the effective power handling ability of 4 identical 25 watt speakers in series is 100W. 100W from the amp would be distributed over those 4 speakers, with each needing to be able to handle 1/4 of 100W or 25W. Wired in series, the impedances are added (so 4x 4 ohm speakers will make a 16 ohm load).
@aurora365526 күн бұрын
@@amplifiedparts so if it’s a 4 ohm 50 watt amp, I can wire 4x4ohm speakers at 25watts in series to create a 16ohm amp @100watts?

Mullard sound good when that over drive in Marshall amps. 🤠 great mid tones.

do i need volume pedal if i have attenuator.
@amplifiedparts26 күн бұрын
They can accomplish different tasks - amp attenuators that go between your amp's output and speaker like those in the video change the level after it has gone through the amp circuit. Those are good for letting you fully drive the power section of your amp (achieving "power tube distortion" in a tube amp) without needing to reach extreme volumes. Volume pedals change the level before hitting the amp circuit, and changing the level there won't just change the effective volume but will also make a difference in how much the signal distorts inside the amp (louder signals at the input resulting in more clipping). Volume pedals with a treadle are good for dynamic adjustments to volume and/or amp drive. Simple boost pedals are good for making a section of your playing cut through or boosting your amp into more clipping.

What is the hfe for transistors and how do they need to be biased?
@amplifiedparts29 күн бұрын
With the circuit tweaks, the bias is very stable and most medium-high gain silicon types will drop in just fine with no adjustments needed for proper bias - BC109B or similar is what I'd recommend (hfe of 200+), but as long as they're not very low hfe (i.e. <100) they should work well in there.

@@amplifiedparts thanks a lot! There is a small error in the vero layout. Cap between Ground and +9V should be 47, not 4.7 Once again thank you for staying open source to DIY community.

Excellent stuff. Although you’ve already demonstrated it very well in the video, I think it’s good to mention that that this is one of the few fuzz circuits that works well with humbuckers.

i've always hated the extra high end frequencies from heavy distortions and fuzzes, so i've had to tune the gain like crazy a saturator sounds like it'd eliminate this; in layman's terms, even at max your tone still sounds more melodic than a high gain fuzz would give when playing chords, for example super informative video, thank you 🙏

Best video on how bias your amp❤
@jfxberns2 ай бұрын
1) You don't show how the bias probes are connected--though you do show them being removed. 2) You show the signal on the oscilloscope, but you don't explain what points the problems are connected to to get that signal. 3) What volume setting do you use to test? 4) I see a waveform on the oscilloscope. Do you need an input signal to do the biasing? Remember, this is for beginners!

looks like a pretty decent amp kit though.... pretty good price to get into a point to point kit amp. ( a lot easier to work on, for the cost of terminal strips ) the power trany looks bigger than my amp's tranny, maybe not though, about the same, mine is full wave rectification ( no secondary center tap )......Ooo....I just noticed it's a Hammond....I can't zoom in on the sticker, which one is that?

8 Watts ? max plate is 300vdc, and my EL-84 runs at 270vdc ( 90% ) but the amp is called a " 5 watt ".... I mean I am guessing it puts out about 6 watts, but that's just guessing. what's the B+ spec on that?
