The 40m band ends at 7.300mhz so if you transmit on it your signal will go out of band. 7.297 is as high as you can legally transmit in my country. 14.200 is the North American distress calling and emergancy frequency for disasters. Long range frequency monitoring is not going to give you local intel for a local emergency like flooding, fire, power out due to heavy snow and that's sort of thing. Now if your talking wide spread war or nation wide civil unrest.... That's beyond the scope of my video's. Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed.

If we were to face an EMP from a solar flare or a worse catastrophic event, it would be prudent to scan frequencies below 30 MHz after provided you had a radio that had been stored in a protective container. The higher frequency bands could experience significant disruption until the effects of the EMP dissipate.

One thing you didn’t mention and one that some folks may not know is that if you transmit you can be located. Depending on the situation that may not be desired.

That is true you can be located fast. We do it all the time. Call it a fox hunt. But for civil disaster or weather related operations, there is no one trying to get you anymore than right now. If the government is out to get you, your cell phone knows right where you are. There is no situation where my government is coming to get me. Too many other people of concern to them to even think of me. Just saying I'm not an important target.

Not true, if you’re even listening with power on, not even transmitting with an antenna connected I can find you. Every superheterodyne receiver has a local oscillator that is tracking the transmitter frequency, It is low level but with good receivers it can/will be received. Another point, every human’s voice has a unique fingerprint. Once that biometric fingerprint is correlated with a face then you, the individual will be instantly identified regards what ever means you try to change your voice. Ever wonder why Anonymous use’s a computer generated voice? This is why….

Most power out events will be too small for governments to bother with amature radio restrictions. For all out war, they might but will be too busy to enforce it, and there will be too many people using it anyway. The radio's I have can monitor from 0.500.00mhz to 29.999.99 mhz and from 100.000.00 mhz to 520.000.00 mhz. So, as far as monitoring rf for Intel purposes goes, I'm doing no too bad. For all emergency situations, you want to refrain from transmitting to keep airways clear for emergency radio traffic. I would only transmit if needed. All other times I'll just receive. You can prep all you want, but if the civil war ever comes you guys are going to lose the same way you did the first time. There are plenty of people out there like me who make you look like wannabes. You can't beat stem no matter how much you try no matter how much you train the bottom line is where the people who are training you We are the people who develop the training. without us your weapons your radios and training would not exist. The student cannot defeat the master. I have degrees in organic chemistry, I'm a retired aerospace engineer and live on a ranch with my own shooting range. The best advice I have is to stay as far away from people like me as you can. I can render your RF communications dead as a doornail with a flick of a switch. I wonder how many of you preppers can build an initial guidance system in the garage ? If you don't know what that means, it means I can take you out and you'd never even know what happened. Oh and for the record, inertial guidance systems don't require a GPS signal yet they arrival GPS for positional accuracy. The Bible says that the meek show inherit the Earth, We also know that Darwinism means that the most adaptable will survive. see the uneducated think that survival of the fittest means survival of the physically strongest and the most well-trained, it does not, it means those who are best educated and adaptable.

Why you want to use series (high volt) though? If your panel is far away and need to run a long wire. Why? Because the higher the volt like in series the thinner the required copper wire. Copper is expensive, you don't want to buy thick copper wires.

Correct the higher amps the thicker the wire needs to be. And the more loss you will have. BUT with a pwm charge controllers they don't covert the high voltage to amps so a parallel connection is better.

Meshtastic radio is the only decentralized leagal encryption form of secure messaging communication available in a grid down no power no internet situation that cannot be jammed by the boafeng army or worse. Unfortunately Ham operators are not legally allowed to use encryption on anything so the boafeng gangs will hear you and find your transmission location however you can listen 👂 to it all so this is still good advice
@LiveFree-pk8ej
@LiveFree-pk8ej Ай бұрын
The issue I have with meshtastic is that it has a short range. You need units to extend, but that would depend on having a group in the community. If your 4 or 5 people working together in a small area, it becomes more viable. There are ham radios that have encryption, and in a total grid down situation, no one will be looking for you or trying to enforce radio rules anyway. They will be too busy doing important things.

Just wondering this as I have built a large faraday box inside a shipping container. Does anyone on here not prepare for the possibility of a HEMP? I have put radios, computers, solar panels, wind turbines and all batteries and electronics I will need to be off grid in a time of need. I did this as I knew about the use of nuclear weapons to cause an electro magnetic pulse that will fry electronics and destroy the power grid. I know everything I don’t have protected will be unusable after an EMP, but has anyone else thought of this and the possible outcome? Or prepared for this outcome? Great video and lots of information. Thanks 🙏

Then tried a few other cheap ones and had similar results, then bought a DIY board off EBAY. I used it with the big transformer from the powerjack inverter. Rock solid! The voltage sags a bit when you put a big load on it, but it's been going for months running a 9000 btu mini split that pulls 2000W at times. 12v batteries with 220v and 110v output. Starts and runs my air compressor when I ask it to, runs the circular saw, and with this one, there's no weird little flicker every couple seconds in the light bulbs if I'm running them on it.
