He doesn't want her. He is saying it. It's painful but its true. You can't force someone to want you. It's not healthy. It sounds like he has moved on. It sounds like he has moved on. Also, they are in a finacnial mess because of her gambling addiction. He is probably resentful because of that. It is a brutal addiction and she is only 8 months sober. She should focus on herself and the children. I have seen people relapse and get into tens of thousands of debt in a weekend. The best thing is to find a way to co parent healthily and unearth the underlying causes of this addiction.

This is coming from someone whose parents stayed together despite all things. Staying with a cheating husband who doesn't care about you is worse for the family than splitting up. Your kids learn from you and when they see you stay with someone like this they will end up in similar relationships. When you divorce him you are teaching your kids to choose yourself over someone who betrayed their family. You are damaging your kids more by staying than you would if you leave him.

Interesting perspective, thank you for sharing. Since we can't go back and re-do your life with parents that split, you are only to witness one side. We don't know what the other choice held for you, or your parents. It's not as rosy as you may think or feel. Divorce ruins much more than the eye can see and your destructive parents who may have not noticed or want to take the time and learn the skills to fall in love again (which is possible) may have been more damaging to your head, heart and soul had they been apart. Advice to you? FEEL GRATITUDE To them anyway. See the mistakes they made and let them all be lessons to you, or warnings on how not to live your life. Or you will repeat their mistakes. I'm sure they did do many things good. What ever that is? I hope you feel grateful to them for that. SEE the good. And see what you want. Then go make it happen.

Are you teaching women to be apologetic, become small and become a good woman so he doesn’t feel judged and threatened for cheating and feel safe to return to a marriage where she was hurt, humiliated, belittled, pushed away, unsafe, and not enough for a dream that will not last?? Jesus Christ??!!! Women? No. You deserve better than to be someone that deserves a cheating husband for the kids. Where are you left in this? Where is your self-compassion? Where are you in this setting, in the back seat while everybody else gets their needs met and you get nothing??? When someone tells you who they are believe them!!!!! Believe them!!! This lady is teaching you denial.

You’re young, and have been hurt by your husband’s sudden departure. He sounds like a user of women. He needs a woman to put a roof over his head. ( his mom, horse face and now you.) He is always going to be a user and a cheater. Stop making excuses to make yourself feel better. You seem like a very nice lady get over him and get out there and meet a quality man. You deserve better.

I started going down the affair and rebuilding marriages rabbit hole about 8 years ago, and I like to know the details because I thought my husband had had an affair. I just want to know how to overcome everything, and some things feel worse than others. How do people who are in these awful situations get back together? BTW, he didn't actually have an affair, but he was being inappropriate.

I wanted to hear more about why he left the girlfriend in Florida. And it’s not just because it’s juicy gossip, I really think it’s important information because it speaks to the fact that he might have an avoidant personality. He bolts when he has to invest himself emotionally with people, so when he realized that he would still have to communicate and deal with his emotions with this woman down in Florida, he couldn’t handle that either, and so he left her too. That’s what avoidants do. They don’t want to deal with any sort of heavy duty emotions. They’ll run from their emotions, drink their emotions away and/or suppress them. Anything to avoid dealing with emotions.

I’m worried that once he gets his, RN, then he’s going to take off again. I feel like he’s just sticking around because he needs an affordable place to live. And that’s nothing against Sarah. I just think that that is something in his nature. Maybe he’s an avoidant.

When you said that he started sobbing in the car and had to pull over and begged you to never leave him, my first thought was that his ex girlfriend, that he had been communicating with cut things off with him and he was devastated. So, of course, he didn’t want you to leave him also. I feel like these cheaters tell us part of their story without really telling us the story. You always get bits and pieces of what’s really going on because of their guilt. It’s too much to keep inside, and so they tell you just enough to not give themselves completely away, but they get to purge some of the guilt.

This story sounds so much like mine. I had no idea about male midlife crisis. In 2013-14 it hit my husband. Many things happened between 2014-2018.. in 2018 all of a sudden he said he was not happy, he wanted to stay home but come and go as he pleased, I was not doing ok with that, so I told him to go stay with his mom for a couple of weeks. It turned into 8 months he claims my mom asked him to come back. By the way I was married in 1990 and this was 2018, he came back and there was no contact with the mistress, which he met at the gym in 2017. Well in 2021, he left and went to live with the mistress. We are not divorced but he doesn’t want me to say that I am his wife because he has a partner. I live in the family home alone, he pays all of the bills. I’m disabled, but it doesn’t affect my moving and stuff. He’s a great father to our 3 children. As bad as his betrayal has been my children’s betrayal was worse since they accepted her knowing what happened and she even left her husband to be with mine. I wish I would have been smart and not lose my cool but I have. I wish he would come back and we would love each other like we used too. I’m 61 and waiting.

This was encouraging. My husband of 23 years has turned narccistic through his midlife crisis and is like a different person. From an empathtic intelligent man to cruel and irresponsible. No getting through to him. He has put me through hell since last year. He separated from me 6 weeks ago. Its been the hardest time of my life. Lots of tears. I am trying to see it through spiritual eyes and to stand with God for my marriage. My husband does not believe in God so there is nobody to answer to in his world. But I know he will find out different and be really remorseful for this experience. We are living in dark days looking at biblical signs and hearts have grown cold. I keep praying God reveals Himself to my husband before a divorce can happen in 10 months. I would appreciate all the prayers to the throne for this to be so. Thank you.
