I am learning the closed stance. I find it hard to generate power on closer balls, but when you're on the run, BOOM! There goes a Sabalenka thunder-ball!!!

Been looking at my own play lately. I tend to prepare late and thus tuck in my elbow on both sides. Maybe I need to focus more on the ball as my opponents make contact? 🤔

Interesting to see you trying out a completely new firm. I recall you mostly played with Babolat Pure Aeros and some Head Extreme Tours recentley which are both Spin frames. Nordic Dots in its 99 and 100 models dont seem to come across as spin frames. So how were they for Spin? How did you get into this brand ? Have you tried the 99 model? And could you really see yourself playing this in tournament matches? And did Simon try this?
@mattiastennis5 күн бұрын
This was a bit of a surprise but not so shocking. It seems nordicdots is focusing a lot on players in England. There is a few other channels in England which are promoting its apparel and this racquet

Is weight transfer on serve similar to front foot hop like on forehand?
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial6 күн бұрын
Not so much, as on the serve with the pinpoint stance, you’re bringing the feet together before driving up and forward. On a neutral stance forehand, the body weight is going forwards mainly, and the swing is more linear. On the serve the swing is still upwards towards contact, but the weight shift allows you to create forward momentum prior to launching upwards
@haljam88285 күн бұрын
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial cheers. So legs drive is up and forward for platform too. Also do you offer 5 day camps for aspiring pros. If not are there any you recommend Rick Macci etc?

So what is the difference between "Hit on the rise" and "Hit a half-volley" if you take the ball at your waist level? If you hit it at your waist level it will likely always be a half-volley. You actually take those balls at your waist level at "hit a half-volley" section.
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial6 күн бұрын
I’ve just gone back and watched the examples of hitting as a half volley, out of four shots, 3 were just after the bounce, one was slightly later due to the ball feed being shorter, but it was hit at around knee height. None were at waist level as you described. I think you can rewatch it in 0.25 speed and you’ll see for yourself. On the rise means any point after bounce until the ball apex, and a half volley would mean any point just after the bounce until around knee height. Nobody expects you to hit the ball perfectly just as it bounces every time.
@kkarx5 күн бұрын
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial That is what I did. Out of the 6 balls you played it seems to me that 3 are at about your knee level - 3 are at about your waist level. But the point I wanted to make is that it depends more on the trajectory and speed of the ball whether it feels more like a half-volley or like a classical stroke, right? If I wanted to take every high ball at my waist level it would often necessarily feel like a half-volley.

I started doing this about a few months ago when the idea popped into my head. Came here to see the technique other people use to achieve the same shot. Pretty much the same only I place my body naturally more parallel with the ball and I lunge into the slice, this way I achieve much more curve and speed
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial5 күн бұрын
That’s an interesting technique, how do you time that effectively when dealing with pace? I guess it depends greatly on the level you’re playing at
