I have two mouthpieces that he worked on for me. He did one of them. I got it back and loved it so much that I went out and bought another Otto link, sent it to him and told him make it just like the other one so I’d have a back up. They are still my favorite mouthpieces.

Don't know if you're still receiving or viewing comments on this video in 2023. I have a cine version of the Samyang 35mm (Nikon F mount). My problem is that the aperture ring slowly opens on its own once attached to the camera, so I can't specify a narrower T stop, unless I tape it to secure it. If I use the Nikon F to Canon EF adapter ring and use it on a Canon body, the aperture behaves as it should, so something is occurring within the inner mechanisms to move the aperture to the wide open position - I'm assuming some sort of spring with too much tension, but I don't know. My other Samyang cine lenses are fine, so this is the only one with that quirk. Any guidance on performing a DIY fix?

It sounds like you have a broken internal component. I haven’t opened a nikon lens so I won’t be of any help.

it's a shame you use your lens caps 🙂 - I just put a UV filter on the lens and you're good to go. I usually throw my lens caps away as I lost many photos in the past by having to take the lens cap off to get a quick shot. Great review - and I'm going to order this pack.

Thanks for your great description! I had the same issue with the menu button and your proposed fix worked perfectly 😉 The Edge 500 got now a second life after being replaced by an Edge 520 5 years ago. Best regards from Germany!

Hi, thank you for the helpful video. I just purchased a similar samyang lens but it came already with the aperture ring de-clicked and i'd like to buy that ball. Do you know the exact size of that ball bearing?

For some years I've had this monopod. Eventually, as most things that get a lot of use, the very last locking clamp (very bottom one) has developed a crack in the casting and as a result, no longer 'locks/secures' the last or smallest extension. So I don't get quite the reach as before. Do you know if this 'extension' can be sourced and replaced? thx for you breakdown.

Wow these lenses are made like shit lol. No offense to people who own them (I own an 8mm fisheye from samyang)But damn they are not built well at all. The optics are decent (keyword decent) but that mount will fail eventually and all the plastic parts will give out quickly compared to other lenses. Forget dropping it, its a goner if you do. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks for a used zeiss that will last 100 years as long as I don't drop it.

I did this to my Rokinon 24mm f/1.4, but omitted the "electrical tape" suggested. Everything was exactly the same as shown here. The lens went back together and works smoothly just fine - no problem.

Yeah. All the electrical tape I've used in my life (been here awhile) has at some point turned 1) gummy and disgusting or 2) brittle and disgusting. Not sure I want that mess in there. Grateful for this video, though. Thanks c2thew!

Glen was a fine gentleman. I sought him out as a young man in need of work on an old buffet clarinet. Little did I know I was in the presence of nobility. I wish I had understood and could express my admiration for his contribution. He was a humble man and I an ignorant pup. Much love to those that went before us.

The part you think is the pressure/altimeter sensor at 2:18 is actually an antenna connector, the barometric/altimeter is on the other side of the board, close to the usb connector

I have the same issue with my new Vision trimax 30. When I am going downhill and let it freewheel You actually feel the bike slow down. I don't have this problem with my Duraace C50's nor my Marchiso Zefiro. And I actually prefer softer freewheel clicking anyhow. I want to make a note that the Vision Trimax is a brand new wheel as opposed to the others. So I assume it will quiet down and decrease it's drag after a few thousand kilometers. I really wish there was an immediate fix for it. I appreciate you bringing this issue to the table because the efficiency of the bike is jeopardized to noticeable extents from springs that are too stiff.

Actually it nothing new DT Swiss has 2 and 3 pawl system, but... If you have more pawls it prevents from wearing out inner ring driver, which happens after few thousands of miles.

The spring design seems wrong to me. How is it applying equal and correct force to each pawl? My Mavic hubs have tiny springs underneath each pawl so at least the force is equal. I'd be worried about bending that spring at all since it would be unpredictable as to how much spring tension would then be on each pawl. I did notice that greasing the pawls made my hub much quieter. I thought that you were supposed to use a relatively thin oil or grease since you don't want the grease to interfere with the pawl easily engaging the gear surface.

That field curvature is not distortion... it's a fisheye. You are also comparing rectilinear lenses to fisheyes, which is kind of apples to oranges. Maybe put down the snort and read up on the subject matter...? TIA

not having the pawls in opposing slots triggered my engineering odc hard! bending the spring a tad looser, and a good helping of the thickest and stickest high-temp grease you can find under the pawls, will work wonders. (ask in a car ot motorbike repair shop or buy a pound that will last you a lifetime for like threeefiddy. actually i have one with me, in case you are interrested. ;D
