One of the things a lot of people don’t know is that according to Home Alone director Chris Columbus, the original concept for Home Alone 3, the studio thought their chances of making millions of dollars to shoot Home Alone 2 and 3 back to back, because John Hughes had an idea for Home Alone 3. The original idea for Home Alone 3 was rather than a different cast, Home Alone 3 will featured Kevin, the McCallister Family, and Harry and Marv. This was before that idea was scrapped, before Hughes wrote another version of Home Alone 3 with Kevin as a teenager. It’s true; Columbus and Culkin actually mentioned this in the commentary of Home Alone Blu Ray version. The idea of shooting Home Alone 2 & 3 back to back sounds like a great and awesome idea to me.

Still waiting for a anniversary update of Remake where they fix the Magician speed to be faster and a better soundtrack. Or at the very least a complete remaster collection for PC and Console, no more Nintendo they ruin it with their low tech and you can see it in this remake.

I have to disagree with you on the soundtrack of Saturn being better than the arcade version. You see the Arcade version plays best on the actual hardware since that is what it was made for, being emulated loses some of its quality. Not to mention the Arcade version has more gothic feel to it compared to the upbeat Saturn version. Its more Organ focused.

Thing is, Paper Jam while objectively the worst in the series, is still a 6-7/10 game. It's just very basic, but if it's your first Mario RPG, it would still be a pretty decent game. It is still a disservice when you compare it to the previous games, and especially a disservice to Paper Mario, but it is by far and away better than most if not all of the second Paper Mario trilogy. The gameplay really saves Paper Jam, since the gameplay for Sticker Star and Color Splash just straight up suck. Origami King did change things up better, but still doesn't really compare to any Mario & Luigi game. The worst part of Paper Jam is proof enough; the worst part of Paper Jam was saving Paper Toads, which is just a normal thing of the second Paper Mario trilogy. Story is also non-existent for each of those games except maybe Origami King, the whole brother and sister thing was cool, I guess. They all pretty much butchered the premise; Sticker Star had no premise. I guess the only real valid hate the game still gets are from non-Mario & Luigi fans that are Paper Mario fans, mad that Paper Mario didn't get properly represented. Which is fair, and I'm upset at that too, but for most Mario & Luigi fans the game is still ok.

I wish you luck in your life, living in the cesspool of insanity that is the modern day USA. As someone who is non-binary themselves (to the point where my profile picture has a female version), I too have seen many people like us fall victim to anti-LGBTQ+ laws. For example, what happened in my home province. The premiere has shown his own colours by contemplating laws which actively hinder high school students that are LGBTQ+. I was lucky enough to be out of high school by the time it happened, but I still fear for the future of those poor teenagers. High school is already hard enough, why must we have it even harder than the rest? My only hope is that these laws stop soon, because if they don’t… we might both be in jeopardy. I hope that’s not the case, but the outlook is currently grim.

How fitting that such a mediocre console would end with a game like this. Granted, the opening of this console was bland as un-buttered toast (With games like New Super Mario Bros. U, Epic Mickey 2, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart 8 and Sing Party being sterile, bland, dull, decent and… why), but this… was probably the best way to end the Wii U.

Hmm… Now I’m trying to remember the first spooky games I played. The main candidate I can think of is the spooky forest levels of Kirby Mass Attack; of course, it was mild enough that young me was only somewhat unnerved. But then there was the Flood from Halo 2, which I saw my dad play. I think the Kirby one came first, but the second is definitely more outright scary. 9:50 Oh I remember First Frights! That werewolf chase wigged me out. Until I failed it enough times that I just got annoyed… The game had pretty good music though!

When I was a kid, I watched my aunt play some Professor Layton game for the DS. I remember one puzzle that was something like “a monster is attacking the village! Stab it in the eye!” The solution was noticing that the negative space of the night sky looked like a monster, and there was a bright star where the eye went that you had to stab with the stylus. I remember it scared me, and I didn’t have the vocabulary to say why. Nowadays, I can say that it was my first foray into cosmic horror. I remember thinking “ok but what DO I do when the sky itself wants me dead? How am I supposed to fight it, it’s the SKY!”

With the mention of Earthbound, out of curiosity, if you're emulating the game on PC, there's a Trans Ness mod which I think would be right up your alley. I know it made my playthrough better. :D As for scary childhood games, I was a very shy and cowardly kid that often completely avoided games if they spooked me in any way, but for me it's less entire games and morseso specific moments in games that sent chills down my spine. There's obvious picks like the Sonic drowning music, defeating Marx Soul for the first time in Kirby Super Star Ultra and listening to his ear-piercing scream, or the piano in Mario 64, but then I had moments like watching Spongebob deyhdrate in the GBA version of Supersponge (which I think was a mechanic that lasted one level, skill issue-), some of the later levels of Madgascar on the PS2 were very open and empty that made me feel a sense of isolation -as I kept jumping and falling into pits,- the final boss of Bowser's Inside Story... _The cosmic clone levels in Mario 3D Land especially got to me._ Between the warped remix of the main theme and a sentient copycat that followed your every move to the letter REALLY freaked me out as a kid and still makes me uncomfortable today. Any game with "cosmic clone" type enemies makes me feel unsafe, knowing that you are your own worst enemy. :') Oh, and good video. :D

Ooh, thank you for bringing that mod to my attention. I'll be sure to keep it in mind whenever I get around to playing Earthbound. Also, those are some great examples, a few of which I have experience with myself.

@ZillennialRosa2 ай бұрын
I don't have a firm time frame for it, but tomorrow I am uploading part 1 of my 2 part Halloween special, and the second should come out a few weeks after that. Once that video releases, my focus will be on the Origami King video, which will at minimum take me a month to finish, but realistically will probably take a bit longer than that. I'm hoping to get it out before the end of the year, but I won't know for sure if that's possible until I'm finalizing the script for it.

I first came across HOTD on holiday at the arcade when I saw a HOTD1 machine. I used to watch the looping intro and demo constantly, getting that fleeting glance of Magician as Curien laughed and wondering what the hell it was... the mystery really intrigued me and got me hooked on finding out.

Not having played Sticker Star (or Color Splash, for that matter), I always associated Sticker Star with The Last of Us: Part II, where the more you hear about it the worse it gets. Your first conclusions upon hearing rumors at a surface level only get worse with context.

0:40 There are a few good reasons to not have a web browser on the Switch. 1. It's a massive vulnerability, especially for a portable console where players can be expected to connect to public Wi-Fi. The potential for exploitation is far too great to justify its inclusion. 2. It's not 2012 anymore. Smartphone ownership in the United States went from around 46% in 2012 to around 90% nowadays. People already have a portable device with internet access. Having a second device for that is just unnecessary.
@ZillennialRosa3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I understand why Nintendo wouldn't want it there. I was more annoyed at the time the Switch came out that it lacked those kinds of features because back then I would have gotten more use out of them.

Us SPM diehard fans are a force to be reckoned with, for sure. As someone who also has heavy childhood nostalgia and bias towards this game that it is very difficult to divorce myself from, like you mentioned, I 100% acknowledge that as a complete package, it's probably far more flawed than I give it credit for. For me, the story is paramount - I don't care one iota how bad or boring a game's gameplay is if the story moves me deeply - and so to me, SPM was and still is one of the best games I've ever experienced, one that has a very special place in my heart, always. The story, characters, and the soundtrack tying it all together _are_ what makes this game a masterpiece to me, and that's all I need. And I won't lie that there's also a degree of instinctive defensiveness as well; SPM has been subjected to so much unfair hate from the "turn-based or bust" TTYD crowd, ignoring any and all merits the game has to offer just because of its battle system changes, so as a SPM fan there's a natural desire to push back against that and be protective of it, tiring as the hate has been, as much as the game's reception has improved over the years (though it's still rather frustrating that it only really started being appreciated once more games came out and people finally realized what _actual_ mediocre to bad paper mario games look like... *sigh*) All that to say that, as perfect as SPM is to me, I know I have my own share of bias. As a kid, I had a perfectly fine time with the gameplay (again, especially when I was so distracted being enthralled by the story lol), but I can see how it could be greatly improved upon when you lay out all the issues like this. I really do pray that it gets a remake just like TTYD did, so that it gets another chance in the limelight to _truly_ be appreciated by more people this time around outside of its cult following, a remake that makes the gameplay experience more fun and the quality on par with the quality of the story and presentation (personally I truly do not want them to make it turn based; just make adjustments to the levels and other tweaks to make the existing battle system feel better, please. I think a lot of the blind haters believe that simply giving SPM turn based battles without changing absolutely anything else would magically make it a "good" game, when.... no, it absolutely wouldn't). It truly deserves that second chance..... please, Nintendo, you gave us TTYD, now it's SPM turn please 🙏
@ZillennialRosa3 ай бұрын
Before the release of Paper Mario TTYD for Switch, I would have said that a remake of Super was impossible, but given that the original sold more than TTYD, there is a distinct possibility of it happening, and with the right tweaks, I think the game would greatly benefit.
