I'm okay with Penelope's makeover in this case because this isn't a case of "nerdy girl needs to look like this and is made to by the patriarchy." They establish from season one that she doesn't like the way her mother dresses her and that she was uncomfortable in her old look. Even Portia says she thought Penelope's glow up was for her amusement.

The Books were much hotter. The Carridge Scene and so on. It was better written than that TV Play though i like it. But if you have read the Books...it's not the same feeling.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually hate the way this season LOOKS. After the disaster that was season three, I wanted to go back and watch the previous seasons to see just what exactly rubbed me the wrong way (besides the bad writing and even worse pacing), and I found it. It’s the way the whole thing looks, lighting, makeup and costuming mainly. In s1 and 2, the lighting was so gorgeous and it fit the context of the characters and scene. S1 is very blue tinted, the night tends to be more of a cool shade to fit Daphne’s colour palette, and s2 is very pink tinted, as the sharmas generally wear warmer shades. It just gave an air of true personality to everything. In s3, the lighting is….normal? Dull? I think it might be something to do with the type of camera they used (probably digital). Idk it just took away some of that bridgerton spark for me. And then there’s the issue of Colin and Penelope’s makeup. Oh boy. When Penelope walked into the ball with a literal bold glamour filter on, I was like..what? I get it’s not supposed to be historically accurate, but it threw me off so bad. I wasn’t thinking about pen’s big moment, I was thinking about why the hell she was suddenly wearing eyelash extensions. I know she’s supposed to look more mature, but Kate in s2 achieved that just fine with minimal makeup. And Colin looks like he just had Botox, which is not something I want in my period piece romance show. And those costumes…. I’m sorry but yikes. For a show that is marketed as a regency/fantasy romance show, there was BARELY any regency in those costumes. The fabrics were far too modern and I know that bridgerton is no stranger to modern fabrics but literally every character was suddenly wearing three different ones at once and it gave me the ickkkkk. Like it’s not regency anymore besides a very loose interpretation of the empire waistline, and it, again, took away from the general experience, the LAST thing a showrunner wants a viewer to think. In s1 and 2, bridgerton’s costuming was the perfect mix of period accurate and modern. Modern enough to stand out, period accurate enough for it to still be a period drama. S3’s costuming was simply a mess.

19 yo woman wasn't actually considered spinster at that time. Spinster was a woman in her late 20s. In the books Penelope is 29 not 19. That's why she's called a spinster.

I watched the whole season, I didn't even really like it, but girl I watched this video from beginning to end, you are so entertaining and charming And SO gorgeous, I'd die for you to be any Bridjerton season main character, you’d be incredibly beautiful in the show’s aesthetic

There is a "doku" on KZbin that explains why dance moms and addy are like they are. Its all the producers fault. And yes abby is a mean person but from what i heard, before the show she was a great dance teacher. Everyone is pissed at each other because they signed to film one episode (or season, cant remember)... And film 6 more seasons if it hit well. Live TV fohnd it so great they just filmed season two before the first episode was even out.... And now the parants and the cildren where trapped in this show without really knowing what they got themselves into. That they had to be there 24/7 and that the producers planted conflict after conflict for the show. Even changing abbys pyramid lineup because it would cause more drama their way. Its honestly kind of sad... And they didn't even get paid good for the first seasons. They were just trapped.

I am genuienly worried about like...a lot of these analysis overlooking the crucial point with Polin is that S1/S2 is the part of the build up. Attempting to understand them within the sole vortex of S3 does a disservice to their build up. Like Colin being annoying, is completely valid, because he is trying to not be his real self (and his comment in S2 is twofold in that yes he trying to fit in but also to him, he never did think he would court her and he fully apologized on HIS accord and came up with a plan on HIS own to make it up to her). I have seen fair critique of this season but within the overarching theme of Authenticity being what Polin is, understanding them from S1-S3 is important to understand why their arguably one of the better couples for pure romance (and if you don't like friends-to-lovers find, but to they did it incredibly well here).
