I know this is a late question but would you still say colt snipers are your go to when the La Jolla yellows are boiling but being stubborn and won’t hit the surfae iron?
@CatchingtheCrazeАй бұрын
most recently One cool tuna surface iron or JRI have been my go too's and yellow's chase them more than other surface irons i've tried in years past. If their not interested in those i just stick to live bait

the reserve is parallel to the LJ shuffleboard and caddyshack building. if you look at the very start of the video and find the cliff area thing, at the very tip of that is a small white building (which you can still hardly see) but that;s the marker.

How about instead of " volume warning " you include " NO LIFE VEST " warning . Guess who I work for and how many kayakers have flipped and tried to save their gear and were too tired to flip their wide kayak over , as their PFD drifted away. Be responsible for your own safety !

@jackiefitzpatrick29064 жыл бұрын
Where's your life vest ? Wow..you go on Utube for the world to see and you've already broken one of the most important rules of boating ! Poor example for new kayakers . And as we all know..saying you released a fish and actually showing it are two separate things. Kept it huh !
@CatchingtheCraze4 жыл бұрын
Life vest is within reach, no need to wear it 24/7. Thanks for watching!
@jackiefitzpatrick29064 жыл бұрын
@@CatchingtheCraze God..I don't know a single Coast Guard staffer that would agree with you and they all know stories of kayak fishermen / women , who have gotten tangled in all their gear / gaff and couldn't wright their kayak ..as their flotation devices drifted away . As other Utube kayak instructors say , it's extremely hard to put on a life vest when only your head is out of the water. Please practice doing that drill so you can learn how hard it is to get into. Thanks.

Yo. It's me. The Halibut master. Lol. Quick question for you. You ever fish La Jolla in December for yellowtail? If so do you think you can get them on the fly line right now or is fishing an iron the best choice?
@CatchingtheCraze4 жыл бұрын
What's up Caleb! Fastest answer ever coming in hot! i'll start fishing for the biggy piggies in late December till early may usually. From what I've experienced during winter jigs are the way to go because you need to put in many miles a day to find the fish, 15mi+. Trolling a flyline the whole time wouldn't be very productive, however, the past 2 winters have been really bizarre. Again, from what I've experienced... other anglers had different luck both years, flyline has been the only way to get bit. But it's been FARRRRRRR more tedious than just trolling a fly line. Its been more like find your predicted promised land and sit and wait. The fish were zooming in from where ever and exhibiting a massive topwater show for 30sec - 3min max and then bouncing out of LJ till the next day. If you were in the right 60square yard area when they came up and had a flyline out or 2, you were hanging 30+ pounders guaranteed. If you didn't key in on the right area or paddled over to them too late... better luck tomorrow! We should link up in January and go out there together if your down to put your miles in. If you try fly lining make sure to set up in ambushable spots that have suspended bait on them.
@calebshrewsbury39134 жыл бұрын
@@CatchingtheCraze . Great advice buddy. I really appreciate it more than you know. As far as linking up and putting in some miles this January you can count me in. I have your number so I'll hit you up. Thinking about going next weekend and giving it a shot....weather permitting..

I'll try to remember to text you as well but you know how things go sometimes, haha. There's certainly been some yt around lately. Im giving the storms some extra soak time before I go out and reap their bountiful rewards. Good luck out there in the mean time!

Nice video Ryan! During the summer there were tons of nice yellows working the surface on the inside. I always like to keep a stick bait , colt sniper or similar ready for those moments. Also the spinning combo sure does help out. Cheers
@CatchingtheCraze4 жыл бұрын
Hey Tod, you know whats up! I learned my lesson this and last year. Coltsniper is the way to go. The big ones aren't as interested in the stickbait profile as much as they are keyed in on chovies during summer I guess. Plus those dumb fish only wanted the small shit this year for me and I lost a 2 mega giants while trying to use single hooks instead of trebles on my lures :(. Hope you were able to get in on some of that Yt action brother!
