Kayak Fishing La Jolla - Flyline Hookup!

Huge thanks to everyone I've met over the past few months saying you've enjoyed the video's. Here's a one of 4 Yellowtail I caught on my first summer session this year. Hope you catch the Craze!
Rod and reel used:
Seeker Black Classic series 670-7' rated 20 (30) 50
Shimano torium 20 with 65lb braid to 20' 40lb fluorocarbon
Always use Owner #2 Ringed offshore hooks for best hookups during summer!

Yo. It's me. The Halibut master. Lol. Quick question for you. You ever fish La Jolla in December for yellowtail? If so do you think you can get them on the fly line right now or is fishing an iron the best choice?

What's up Caleb! Fastest answer ever coming in hot! i'll start fishing for the biggy piggies in late December till early may usually. From what I've experienced during winter jigs are the way to go because you need to put in many miles a day to find the fish, 15mi+. Trolling a flyline the whole time wouldn't be very productive, however, the past 2 winters have been really bizarre. Again, from what I've experienced... other anglers had different luck both years, flyline has been the only way to get bit. But it's been FARRRRRRR more tedious than just trolling a fly line. Its been more like find your predicted promised land and sit and wait. The fish were zooming in from where ever and exhibiting a massive topwater show for 30sec - 3min max and then bouncing out of LJ till the next day. If you were in the right 60square yard area when they came up and had a flyline out or 2, you were hanging 30+ pounders guaranteed. If you didn't key in on the right area or paddled over to them too late... better luck tomorrow! We should link up in January and go out there together if your down to put your miles in. If you try fly lining make sure to set up in ambushable spots that have suspended bait on them.

Perhaps a dumb question but I see you look at your fish finder several times during the fight. Can you see where the fish is?

absolutely. I always check to see if the whole school is following so i can drop something else down. That or I'll check to see if their on the bottom and I button down the drag or back off when their 20' under.
