Did yours get a lot of oil from breather to carb? From the video I can tell that the filter was oily so is that normal? Getting ready to clean my 8v carb swap and that is one of my concerns.

the opposite actually lol. on my other mk1 i didn't have one in the first place and installed one so that i could run a wide band AFR gauge to better tune my carbs.

Hi ,i have a question ,i bought a TT 288 solid lifters cam for a JH solid head ,specs in the cam card is valve lash intake is .012” (.305mm)and exhaust .018” (.457mm) ,according my measurments cylinder 1 ,for intake i need a 3.356mm adjusting disc to reach the gap of .012” .305mm and for exhaust i need a 3.432mm to reach that gap .018”(.457mm) ,because i don’t have an adjusting valve kit i need to order adjusting dics to an specific sizes ,wich adjusting valves should i order for intake 3.35 or 3.30? And for exhaust 3.40 or 3.5mm ,best regards.

The Body is only the beginning.....Mechanical issues are huge also wiring. these are super hard to restore. and will cost you a fortune in upgrades. ORIGINAL is BAD....for a lot of things. They require upgrades.

i can't agree with you. engines and transmissions are a dime a dozen. the things i think are important are the wearables no longer available like interior, and paint that's only original once. rust is the biggest hidden expense to repair hence my overall opinion in this video.

Remember, those GTI's were probably that guys teenage dream car. It was for me and now I own one. I also own a couple of modern Ferrari's. The GTI I own is just as valued to me as my Ferrari's.

i used the dirty dingo square body mounts. had zero problems with fitment on them.
