@@SaintAndrewTV I suppose it's PTSD from years back. I had just bought a limited edition of a Winchester 1894 16" carbine in 32 Special, with the big bow lever and engraved receiver. I took it to the squadroom at the PD to show my Sgt., who was a fellow leverguner and hunter. We were talking about going to the range after the shift to shoot it. Behind me an officer named Blacky, walked up and picked the carbine up from the table. He threw his arm up trying to spincock the weapon like in the movies. It flew from his hands into the air, landing on a vinyl covered cement floor! I was stunned. My Sgt. picked up the weapon and looked at Blacky saying "Boy, you just bought this gun. And you're going to buy Wade a new one or I will take a personal interest in your suffering." I did get a new one and Blacky had the bent lever, scratched, and dented one. 😒
@SaintAndrewTV5 ай бұрын
@@anangryranger I’d be heated! I’m surprised you kept your cool! I know that if I saw that laying on a table, I’d certainly admire it, but I’d never touch it unless given permission. Never would cross my mind to spin cock it. That’s the ludicrous part for me!
@anangryranger5 ай бұрын
@@SaintAndrewTV Well Blacky was scared of me. I was the one in our division they called on to deal with things that required shall we say a different approach. But I wasn't going to bust up a fellow officer over his own stupidity. I'm not built that way. And yes, there's an unwritten rule you never touch another man's hat, horse, or gun without having permission. Blacky was a city boy and didn't understand such things. He left the department a year later to go sell used cars. It suited him better. 😏
@SaintAndrewTV5 ай бұрын
@@anangryranger I’ve had to teach that lesson a few times in regards to the hat! Never touch someone’s hat. That’s utter disrespect. I know from experience. I don’t hate anything more than that!
